Shackleton is still my main steed, at least for transport purposes. He really needs a respray, but I'm reluctant to lose the Tigger's Mum's Bathroom Blue.

The frame can be powder coated the same colour.

I’m not sure I like fixed riding but would like to keep BJ as a winter bike. Has anyone converted a Pomp to hub gears?  Or are there any reasons why such a conversion wouldn’t work?

It turned out I also didn't like (well was scared of!) riding fixed, so after having this frame taking up space for several years I have done just this.  It was supposed to be a minimum cost/using-mostly-bits-I-had project...well you can imagine how successful that was.  Hub is an eight speed Shimano Nexus.

Toe overlap is awful as frequently discussed; I could move the front mudguard in a bit to gain a few mm.  I'm getting used to it and have only ridden with flats so far.

It's being used for commuting, it feels lighter and faster than my tourer (the other 'conventional' bike I am used to) and I'd like to try some longer rides, so there may be an audax in its future.  Still need to sort out lights, which I have, it's just a case of being arsed to do it.

Think it possible that you may be mistaken.

Nice!

BJ is still fixed and all is good. We haven’t been out for a while, need to fix (excuse the pun) that!

If you look carefully at the pic posted above in reply #172 you can see the SA gear shifter at the top of the steerer. I'll post the picture again with https in case it's not showing in that post:
