So route?

We could do my WAG friendly route but actually go up TMNH as opposed to skirt round it.

I'd probably skirt round it - I am 2 years clear of riding up it and it's become sort of an obsession now to avoid it !

ETA: in fact it is almost exactly 2 years (last time was 6 Aug 2016)

We could meet you by Doggers Lane ford?

I was planning to meet you all at Spa RBT.. I could be tempted on TMNH - it's been a while - I'll see you all at Spa for 19:30 subject to colonial / empire / teatime etc

Jibber's proposed route has far too much COR for my level of wobbling.

I'll cycle past the Generals about 8:00pm and if you decide to ride TMNH I'll tag on the back for a while, else I'll make up a circular route ON ROADS to the Woolpack....

What do you mean COR?  There's only ncn1 which even Alex D rides on his road bike!

I note (with some sadness) that it's the Chappel Beer Festival next week!

Perhaps the panel might wish to revise Colchester plans and replace with train station related beer quaffing?

Just in case anyone has been living under a rock lately a bivvy night is being planned for a week today (31st)  You know you want to

You'll be looking for a rock to sleep under on Friday night. Are you sure a cold East Mersey beach in a Northerly breeze is a good idea? It gets pretty nippy down by the water.

Since Jibbers seems to have deserted us for the West Country (I'm sure he'll return looking even more like a Wurzel, singing, "I'm in love with my combine harvester"), are there any plans for this week's Wednesday night?

I do recall him mentioning the Chappell beer fest.  Or...

TCMR might be tempted so how about The Cats or Hurdlemakers?

She might allow me to accompany her, if I've been good.

A quick search and there appears to be only one The Cats pub in Essex, in Maldon. That suits me, as I'm unable to make it this week due to an evening teleconference.

It's actually in Woodham Walter, HERE TO BE EXACT.  They don't have a website, they haven't even got a till, once you've met Wally you'll understand why.  Not that I'm inferring any criticism, Wally is a top chap.

Neither do they have diversity of beer  ::-)
And as for Merlot, you'll have Wally's single sized glass of house red and be happy!!

::-)  But they have beer and as it's August no doubt the log burner will be roaring away and The Cats, at its best, is a pub experience which is hard to find in these days of uniform, Farrow & Ball decorated pubs

Wally has beer, if you define a selection of beer as Greene King IPA and Abbot Ale.
On the plus side, once the range of beer has been exhausted the Cats is not far from home so it affords an early to bed opportunity

BTW, The ACME Merchandise Shop has new garments for sale (or replacing previously returned gnome sized gilets)
