Calf Cramp Woes
« on: 17 May, 2014, 04:14:02 pm »
Out on my Bacchetta yesterday I suffered from severe cramping in both calves, even to the point of having to stop and stand to stretch them out. I found toes down or toes up both seemed to make it worse while clipped in, and it was worse on the flat or trying to hammer down hill. I tried sliding down and up the seat in case my leg length was wrong to see if that might help, all no no avail.

Any ideas why I might have suffered, I must be set up wrong somehow.

Are you drinking enough, I was told that this can contribute

Yep, dehydration a common cause.

I've had random calf cramps on both kinds of bike.  Usually related to digestive trouble or over-exertion, rather than anything geometry-related.

Once it starts, time off the bike is the only thing that seems to really help.

Now here's a thing. I regularly got calf cramps riding my Bacchetta Cafe but never on the Optima Orca I had after that. I haven't ridden my current 'bent, an Anthrotech trike, enough yet but no cramps so far.
