For those of you with dogs as pets; remember, they can kill their owners.

I was wondering in what way you imagine those with dogs as pets might change their behaviour as a result of your warning.

About 4 people per year are killed by dogs in England and Wales, which is around the same number who are killed by bees and wasps. Around five times as many drown in their bath, 15 times as many die falling off ladders and 150 times as many falling down the stairs.

I think the most likely cause of death from our dear old pooch would be some sort of unusual infection from his foul breath.

Dogs have killed more people in the UK last year than terrorists.

Just remember that.

And what about people killed by dangerous drivers motor cars ? (Yes, I know, it's never the driver's fault...)

^^^it were the dog.

I'd guess that deaths from infected cat scratches would be more frequent.

My understanding is that in this case the dog actually belonged to his gf, though the report I read did not say how long they'd been together (and, therefore, how long the dog had known the unfortunate deceased).

It's thought he had an epileptic fit. If so the dog may have been terrified and 'fight or flight' intervened. It's also been said that the dog was well behaved about 6 months ago but his character changed. That leads me to think that the dog may have tried to become the alpha male and this led to the dog taking his opportunity when he saw it.

IMO a pit-bull is the wrong type of dog for anyone except the most skilled/knowledgeable handlers, let alone an epileptic. It's also easy to wonder how the dog was treated when its character changed.

My cat would kill people if he was big enough.

It has been said that all cats spend their lives trying to figure out how to kill their staff. Fortunately they're not big enough.

They spend at least some of their lives behind the sofa.  Drilling.

Dogs kill more people worldwide than wolves, lions and flying champagne corks combined.

No, of course I haven't checked, but I bet it's true anyway!

Can you get semi-automatic champagne bottles with telescopic sights?

I think there's a liquor and gun store in Dallas that specialises in such things.

Missed the club NYD run to go for a walk with my wife.  Got bitten at the back of my knee by a bull terrier while on a public footpath. My wife thinks it didn't like my big Tilley hat.  "She has never done that before"  said the apologetic owner.

After a couple of restless nights trying not to drip wound fluids on to the bed I finally got it dressed at the Minor Injuries Unit today and am assured I will make a full recovery if the nuclear antibiotics don't kill me first. Had to miss the local New Year's Concert too.

And I'm a dog lover.  Generally.
