Ah Marjorie... for some reason I always saw her in my mind's eye as a mix between Barbara Woodhouse and Rosemary Schrager.

The Editor is Vanessa Whitburn. Can you see why she's called The Beetle?

No.  I'm turning over the words dung, stag,  Colorado, scarab and antrobus in my mind but none of them seem to fit.

I think, initially, you should look again.

I didn't think they had the power to pass anything.

How does Mrs Antrobus come into it? ???

I'd forgotten about her. Didn't she get packed off to the Laurels, ie where Jack Woolley is now? How come Peggy hasn't mentioned seeing her there?

I did wonder if that was the case, but I don't remember her dying. I looked it up on the official BBC Archers website and there's no mention of her demise, so I assumed probably not.

Silly me - assuming anything on the BBC website is up to date and accurate...  ::-)

Who's Marion?  Do you mean Lillian?

...it consisted of a few bars of dramatic chords before giving segue-ing into the usual bouncy tumty-tum-ti-tum-tu-tum...

A few years ago one of the producers in an interview said they were not going to use that part of the tune again as it is "too melodramatic".

OK, place your bets now for tonight's shock 60th anniversary revelations...

I reckon Harry is finally going to reveal himself to be an al Qaeda terrorist and blow up the village...

Slightly more seriously, I have a hunch Tony won't be with us much longer - I suspect it's the only way they can resolve the tedious Helen plotline.

Grey Gables is going to burn down and Helen will choke on a piece of crack cocaine.

Yes, Tony's going to have a full on break down.
The depression is being subtly ramped up over the last two days, culminating with Tom(?) discovering him in a state of confusion trying to fix the yard tractor at silly o'clock on new years eve.

Either that or they'll in for the Tony Hancock version.
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

My "sealed bid" in our household had 2 options :  Tony committing suicide, or Nigel dying somehow.

Well, we know it wasn't the former ... but we don't know yet if it's the latter ... he could, as I write, be dangling from the banner caught in the gutters that need clearing out ....

I suppose there were a few clues that it was going to be something involving Nigel, he says with the benefit of hindsight.

Once they went up on the roof, there was only going to be one outcome.

I thought they both might have come tumbling down.

Mind you, if David has to stay up there until tomorrow evening's episode he could easily die of hypothermia.

I'm inclining towards the wheelchair outcome. People can survive some quite big falls. Of course his chances are better than if he'd fallen off the roof of Higher Loxley...

David nearly died of hypothermia before, when he got squashed by a cow in a ditch, again at New Year. Phil had to drag him out.

I'm not an expert in this field, but helpfully the R4 News kept me posted after the show:

... it was not made clear whether Nigel survived the fall.

I was going to say that!

I think he cracked a rib in the process (David, not Phil).

He and Ruth (oh no!) were going through a sticky patch at the time, but it was long before Sam the cowman.
