Pantani - The Accidental Death of a Cyclist

(again)

It doesn't get any less emotional with repeated watching.  So, so good, but so sad.

Oh Marco  :'(

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. If you liked the first one you'll love it, if you didn't, well, buying tickets to see it would be dumb.

Light on plot but the characters riff and it's a movie of set pieces, the CGI Kurt Russell chin is the scariest thing you'll see on a cinema screen this year, and the cheesy music flows into the mix perfectly. Loved it. It's what the Avenger movies should be had they not descended into po-faced comic-book seriousness.

The Raid

This is an Indonesian martial arts action movie. I don't think I can ever watch a hollywood 'martial arts' movie again. Hard boiled and insane doesn't come close.

Quite fantastic.   A lot of it played for laughs but I know get to add ELO and Fleetwood Mac to Junior's music knowledge.

The soundtrack to the first GoG lived in the car for a good year.

What. The. Fuck.

I read a synopsis of that the other day and had a similar reaction.  Good to see you're committed to the cause of watching these things so we don't have to.

Saw this yesterday. It went from puerile nonsense through to deep and thought-provoking, via What. The. Fuck. And back again.

Still not convinced I enjoyed it. Or didn't enjoy it.

Yes, and it's a notable rarity in a sea of recent movie 'mehs' to come out from a movie and want to see it again.

I suspect I'll be containing this burst of cinematic optimism with Alien: Covenant next weekend.

I'm a bit concerned by the fact that the professional critics have been embargoed and they're using public tweets to promote the film. That never bodes well.

Yeah, I noticed that. Some bloke from Braintree reckons 'it was better than Prometheus.' Well, it couldn't be worse. That'd be like doing a more poo-ier poo. Browner and even more aromatic.

The trailers make it look like a scene-for-scene remake of Alien.

Oh it might be good, they did two good Alien films and the rest were mostly forgettable dross. Prometheus looked pretty on the big screen but you had to balance that with the fact that it was entirely filled with stupid.

I walked past Sigourney Weaver last year and failed to notice until my wife kicked me, by which time Sigourney had gone around the corner. I think that if I had a kid I'd call it Sigourney. Or Muffintop. I'm undecided.

OMG

What a total waste. Not sure I have ever been this disappointed in a movie. 1h47 of life burned. Plus the time I've taken to fire up the tablet and rant about it here.

The joke about thesaureses and the guy that takes everything literally - that was quite funny. So that leaves 1h46m30s.
I just dont understand how people found this funny - and I'm a big fan of Chris Pratt in Parks&Rec (the total budgt for all umpteen episodes of P&R is probably about the same as 5mins of this nonsense.)

And i just could not give a toss about any of the action scenes. I generally had no idea why they were happening.

We took one for the team. We watched it so you don't have to.

I wrote a review but it fell through the plot holes.
It is simpler than it looks.

One for fans of Prometheus I think (which it is very much a sequel to).
