And let's not forget that according to Yellowhammer and other cheerful sources, all this Christmas prep means that retailers won't have the capacity to stock up on post-Brexit necessities.  But hey, you can still have a sprig of cardboard holly on your empty insulin box.
I've dusted off all those old bottles and set them up straight

I plan on putting in another insulin order next week, just in case,

I can’t find my green Tilly Hat, though I’ve still got my white one that is a bit sort of yellow after I washed it with biological washing power. I also, had a rather wonderful green wool Tilly hat that I really liked, but I left that one on a train one time and never saw it again  :(

I am not impressed, SWMBO has just returned with mince pies, not the good mutton based variety

It’s got to be worth a try though.

Choral societies start rehearsing for Christmas concerts in September, don't they?
Many years ago, I played for a (not very good at all) brass band in Ilford that used to start practising Christmas carols in August, to give themselves the best chance of getting them right by December...
...never worked though. To be honest, if they'd kept rehearsing nothing but carols all year round they'd still have been incapable of playing them!  :-[
I have spent all today singing Christmas carols.  :smug:

Mine (Airflow) did the same. Tilley agreed to have a look but I decide not to go that route as, TBH, I hadn't washed it enough. Lucky that I didn't as it's 7¾ but the new one (Nylon) is a size smaller. I might get another Airflow next Spring.

The Green Beast needs repairs.  Hydraulic anti roll system pipes mosly borked. Genuine LR replacements (deffo 4 pipes, probable 6, only genuine ones available) are best part of £1k before fitting.

Rip it out and put in mechanical anti roll system, less eyewatering at about £550, plus resetting the warning light which seems very expensive for just plugging it in and saying "go away" to a warning light.  The mechanical system was a from new option so not a modification, but I can now see why a lot of the forums ask questions about replacing the hydraulic system.

I'm surprised there's no 3rd party spares, eg Britpart.
I use a local independent garage in Banchory, and they seem to be able to do cost-effective work that would be in the £k+ at the Main Stealer.
But you pays your money etc etc...

Apparently not for these pipes, I have as you say used pattern parts otherwise and paid in some cases about 20-25% of the LR version. I also use a local specialist, who's done good work in the past. He was also the one telling me about the conversion kit.

That £500 was a kipper,

Apparently becasue I still have the air suspension I need an uprated version of the anti-roll bars plus new belts, idlers etc. Min £1k either way.  Disco 2's even in good nick are not much more than £2.5K.  I'm now evaluating options.

Tomorrow morning I depart for USAnia.  I have just attempted to check in online.  Having gone through all (most?) of the rigmarole I was told I must check in with an agent.  I could understand if I was FOREIGN,  but I actually have a valid USAnian passport.  HARUMPH!  >:(

Garmin.... my speed sensor needs a new battery. Please be making:

1) The instructions on how to do so make sense and
2), it possible to do without asking a child.

It might be easier and less stressful to go out and buy a new one.....perhaps that's their plan :hand:

I am touring in Northern Italy, at the end of a 180 km day by complete fluke found a room in a remote castle. So now I am relaxing in a gorgeous C15 courtyard with a glass of vino rosso surrounded by olive trees.

Or rather it was, the enormous German woman on my left thinks it’s completely fine to play shit European pop music on her phone speaker…and fucking sing along to it. Please please please shut the fuck up before I throw you over he parapets.

Seriously, you would have thought I had eaten her child the look she gave me!

So yesterday lunchtime I took myself into town to get a large object from Wilkinsons….they didn't have it but that's a different story. I went by car as it would have been too heavy to carry on the bike so had to pay for parking. Now I am a very strange type of person who does not mind paying for parking when I need* to do so as why should I use someone's private property for free? I just don't get why people think they should be able to do so and then moan when they get a "ticket" for being a few minutes late back. You paid for an hour, you should be back within the hour!

Anyway.... I parked my car and walked over the machine £1 coin in hand only to be stopped half way by a women. "Here" she said, "you can have my ticket, its still got 2 hours left on it."

"No thanks" I replied.

Confused look: "Why" she asked.

"The ticket is not transferrable." I replied going to walk on.

"No one will know." She said.

"Look" I replied. "I am not willing to risk it. If I use your ticket and someone from the parking company sees, I'll get a PCN for £50 as the ticket won't be valid. I am not going to risk it."

Well, the look on her face.  Frankly, don't ask me to take part in your fraud. You might think you are being nice but you are not. You are putting me at risk: a risk I am not willing to take.

I got home and told CBH this story. The look on her face too! It does seem that I was wrong to turn the ticket down but I don't think so!

* apart from Virgin Trains. £12 a day to park at Stafford station is a rip off and one you can pull off as the car park is always full so mugs are willing to pay.

I'm with you on the parking for free. But I tend to view parking tickets as like any other thing I've bought - if i've had my value from it but there's still life in it, i'm happy to pass it on / sell to someone else. I'm assuming that i'm paying mostly for the use of the space rather than wear and tear on the barrier.

surely the risk depends on ANPR being linked to the ticket or not

There isn't a barrier or ANPR. No, my unwillingness to risk it is based upon the fact that firstly the notice clearly says tickets are not transferrable and secondly, the car park is regularly patrolled so how do I know that I won't be seen taking the ticket and using it? Its not a risk I am willing to take.

Indeed, how do I know that the women didn't work for the parking company...… (yes, okay, unlikely but who knows!)

Dearest wife, you’re 5’ 4” tall, and our bed is 6’ 6” long. How is it, then, that you end up with your head as far up the bed as it can possibly go, the duvet up to your nose, and 6” at the bottom of the bed - where my feet happen to be - bereft of duvet coverage  >:(

I find that when Dr Beardy does this, not only are my feet uncovered, but I can’t breath because the duvet is too far up the bed. Almost as bad is when she migrates to the bottom of the bed and takes the duvet with her so I’m exposed from mid-chest up.

If either of us could wrestle the duvet from under a cat, this would be a problem. I'd like to know how a tiny little cat like LMC can somehow turn into something with the apparent mass of a black hole once she's installed on the bottom of the bed.
