ACME (Virtual) Awards Event 2020
« on: 14 November, 2020, 02:50:52 pm »
Psyclist and I are putting out feelers and doing a bit of grey-sky thinking towards some sort of ACME Virtual Awards Event before Christmas. Quiz, guest speaker, Q & A session maybe? All ideas gratefully received.

I've the beginnings of an Essex Super-Randonneur list and have received the new 2020 year bars to go with the stash of medals. Let me know if you think you qualify, just for this extraordinary year: any Essex event, permanent or DIY, or a route that dips into the county to a significant degree. Bar alone, or medal and bar free of charge. Let me know your choice. Still a very few original Flitchbikes ESR medals left, without bar loops.

Also your qualifying totals for the ACME Fixed Wheel and Points trophies, though I've a good idea who is getting the latter! I don't think the Helper's or Lanterne Rouge trophies can be awarded this time, as there have been so few calendar events to make a valid decision.

I did a series, which included DIY 300/400 starting from home.

I’m pretty sure I have an SR badge somewhere.

Keen for the virtual awards event Tomsk - given my lack of in person appearances this year, it'll be nice to see people! Regarding the quiz, if you do decide to go with that, I'd be happy to do some/all if required, as I have rounds ready to go as we've been doing regular Zoom quizzes this year (got a mix of audio, visual and normal rounds).

I also managed to cobble together a DIY SR series in September/October, all of which involved a good amount of Essex, so please can you put me down for a year bar.

Another year bar for me, please, Tom

(I have no idea which drawer and/or box the two badges and five other bars are in — I need to sort the office )
Lockdown lethargy. RRTY: wot's that? Can't remember if I'm on #8 or #9 ...

Keep us informed if you manage a quiz. I have no idea if I rode any events this year. All become a bit of a blur I'm afraid.

I’m not sure any of my DIY SR rides went into Essex this year, but they certainly went into the fens, if Nick ever conjures up a Cambs SR award 😉

Enjoy the virtual awards, although nothing beats the pub!
Bikes are for riding, not cleaning!

You can be your own barman in a virtual SR session. Huzzah!

The last time I tried to attend anything vaguely ACME-related and social, I fell off when most of the way there, and ended up in hospital getting stitches instead  This may be a safer option? :-[

ACME AWARDS NIGHT

Monday 14th December

Starting at 7:30pm prompt

We've got a lot to get through, and hopefully all will enjoy a fun filled schedule. Be good to see a good turnout so spread the news.

I've posted the Zoom link on the ACME Facebook page. I will post it here 30 minutes before the start of the event, otherwise contact me directly and I can forward it.

Public posting of Zoom links can lead to Zoombombing. Not so bad perhaps if you're using a waiting room and asking people to name themselves recognisably?

Indeed, which is why it has only been posted to a closed group on Facebook, and will only be posted here for a limited amount of time.

To minimise the risk further, I will post the link here at about 7:20pm, and remove the link around 7:45pm. If anybody needs the link outside of those times, message me.

Thanks for letting this interloper sit in. Sorry I couldn't stay to the end. I was losing in the quiz anyway :-[

But some impressive achievements, especially given the conditions this year, were set out in the awards. Kudos to all.

Well done to all. Sorry I couldn't make it on Monday, work got the better of me!

As mentioned above, awesome achievements considering the year we have had.

I'm still not feeling fully prepared for long Audaxing again yet but when I do........ ;D
