Very inferior Darjeeling, the Ceylon having run out.
I've dusted off all those old bottles and set them up straight

I just had a pint of London Pride - a click & collect substitution for the 1845 I ordered. It's very quaffable, but not in the league of 1845 for flavour. I normally restrict myself to 1 pint of 1845 when I drink it, so I only bought 4 bottles to last the week. I've got tye wine i opened yesterday which I think will last me the rest of the evening.

Waiting to see son off from Aberystwyth station, we found a lovely little back street  independent pub.  I tried the Alpha State Smoked Mäzen. An absolutely lovely dark ale with good smokey nose and taste. Made in Kent apparently.
Mrs B is driving, obv. But still she says I may not have another.   :(
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

Cotswold Bitter from the North Cotswold Brewery.

The upside is being part of a group of neighbours that we joined up with when we moved to this house earlier in the year - each Tuesday the organiser gets a message from the brewery with this week's beer availability (usually 4 or 5 + a guest ale) - we tell him what we want, the brewery delivers to him on Friday and home delivery is made.

Standard package is a 4 pint plastic "milk container" type bottle - and it's £10 for the 4 pints.  Excellent value.   It keeps OK but needs to be consumed within 3 or 4 days.

Larger containers are available, again at knockout prices.

We have been doing similar for the last month or so with Yeovil Ales.
Apart from bottles, their smallest container is a 5l bag in box. I've been getting 10 pint glasses full out of them (I suspect I don't quite fill to the full pint) and the prices start at £20. They do deliver, but the brewery is only a 10 minute drive away and after the last time we had a delivery, MrsC felt so sorry for the driver (he didn't get to us until about 8.00 pm) that we've been doing click and collect. This weekend we are on Lynx Wildcat. :)

Is if bad if I'm drinking a nice muscadet from a pint glass, filtered through a coffee filter as I dropped the bottle and cracked the bottle.  One should not waste nice wine.

I'm drinking Deliverance from Abbeydale Brewery, it's a DIPA that comes in at 7%.

It's crazy hoppy, I like it.

Most notably, I was gifted 14 cans by a friend, which adds like 5% to the enjoyment.

Salmiakki Koskenkorva because it's cold and dark out, and it's been one of those days.

Terrible coffee. Coffeebot evidently had a bad morning, I may need to clean her chute or the beans got stuck, but what I expected to be a Colombian themed Monday-morning coffee smash up of methamphetamine and adrenochrome came out tasting like conference coffee.

have ended up with two whisky advent calendars this year  :smug:

Todays were
1) a "world blend" whic I suspect had a lot of Japan, very light and dry, with strong orange peel and woody hints, very nice
2) a 25 year old Speyside, very marzipany on the nose, with a lot of esters, raisin, grapefruit, burnt caramel flavours

both very good :P

Adnam's Broadside washed down with Marston's Old Empire. Neither BC, but still very drinkable.

ElyDave has reminded me to break out the two ginvent calendars (one is off-piste stuff, the other standard, or so I'm informed). I'd actually forgotten it was the month of December.

Stout from a microbrewery in the 'Sham. Fittingly for an enterprise called "Chapeau" there's a 5% discount if you arrive by bike.

I'm just hoping it goes quickly, I'm bloody knackered and we started another project today. Who'd'a thunk this climate change lark would catch on?

tonight's delights
1) MacDuff 10YO, light, floral with a bit of background earthiness/dryness, would be a good pre-dinner whisky
2) Mackyra Svensk Ek - spiced plum on the nose, nuts, dates and a little chocolate in terms of taste

Just had a cappuccino. Didn't enjoy it much - I made a short filter coffee as the basis rather than espresso.  MrsT can't even tolerate the caffeine in decaf so I foamed too much milk and she polished off the excess.

I think I've just tasted my second most favourite whisky ever, as of today.

From the Netherlands, heavily peated, finished in Pedro Ximinex casks, MIllstone is the name. Might have to look and see how widely available it is.

Magic Rock Clairvoyance IPA.

I notice that the larger Morrisons are now stocking a range of 7-8% unfined DIPAs in 440ml cans.  This is tonight's. It's pretty good.

So much beer. So little time.

ETA The Simcoe IPA is the first to fall, and very very nice indeed. In the words of the hipster bunch who run the joint "the piney, lychee overtones of Simcoe stand out in this thick, juicy, fruity IPA, reminding us why we first went crazy for US craft beers all those years ago."

EATA - at case price (which can be mixed) that's £3.15/can and damn good value IMO
