Now Garmin Express updates Connect, Strava, Endomondo and a couple of others automatically (and it's a matter of a couple of clicks to update Veloviewer), there's little need for MCL - though I liked the target and comparisons with last year thingumybob below. But I don't need tech that doesn't work. So I'm going to bin it (I did report it through MCL's fault report system, with no reply). Incidentally, there is a YACF 'club' on Strava.

yes but not everyone runs, or wants to run, a garmin. A halfords 7 function jobbie is all I need , @ around £8, but its fun to compare against last year and other folks as well.  Come on techies.!!!

No indeed, but if you have a moderately recent phoine, you can run Strava (or any of a host of other apps) for free. And I'm pretty sure there are other manual-entry sites. Not to mention spreadsheets.

but what I can't understand, is why the MCL site is still sending out the info in the zip below. Surely if one bit goes pop, then it all goes pop, oui! ???

One bit of a web site can go "pop" and the rest will carry on. The error message "Call to undefined method" suggests that a resource the MCL web site is trying to load has gone missing.

I like MCL - putting data in twice is a pain (I use the Strava App on the phone to make recording commuting miles etc. easy).  What I really like are the graphs and ability to compare month on month, year on year etc. - but VeloViewer looks like it does all that for me as well?

The thing I don't get in Strava is the ability to set a yearly target and chase after it.

I do like the ability of VeloViewer to analyse by bike as well - that's a cool feature.

I assume I need to go into VeloViewer and update manually every so often?

Veloviewer is a bit laggy, but to update your signature image (which grabs all your Strava data)...

1. Go to Veloviewer & login top right... wait for the thing to finish 'getting the data'
2. Once loaded, click on the 'Update' tab... wait for it to get the data
3. Click the 'Get Everything' box and it will load all recent data
4. Finally, click on the 'Summary' tab to finish update.
5. Go back to YACF and viola - Veloviewer sig updated.

I wish Veloviewer would do all this for us, but it's just a 3rd party API website that uses Strava data. I reckon Strava will have it's own forum signature-type feature in the not too distant future.

Actually if you want the same data logging functionality that MCL had/has, you can manually input data on Strava too which gives you weekly/monthly year-on-year journal type functions.

Of course you can't then take part in the 'challenges' Strava comes up with which creates a pretty cool competitive vibe between you and your club-mates / friends / colleagues as the whole point of Strava is that you're 'proving it' - i.e.. using GPS data to prove that you actually went and did the mileage you claim to be doing...

The segments already exist, and have been named by the person(s) that created them. Your route just happens to go via those segments.

MCL stil down, I am using my note app on phone to record mileage.
I use strava how do I get strava ticker on my signature instead of MCL

Sign up with http://veloviewer.com, set your options on the "Signature Image" page and copy the URL generated to your sig text here.
I have done what you have said but nothing has happened

You need to enclose the url in img tags like this :
Code: [Select]

Try replacing the "u=M" with "u=I" in the url.

Paul has u=I and it shows in miles.

You have u=M and it shows in km.

I assume I = Imperial and M = metric.
Those wonderful norks are never far from my thoughts, oh yeah!

KOMs are a Strava thing, short for King of the Mountain. Except in this context the mountain is a Strava 'segment' or a section of a route that someone has created as a segment. That means I'm  the fastest over 15 segments. But to put it in context one of those is probably the 50m from my front door to the pub.

My link in my favourites gets me in OK.  And yes, I did try F5 to ensure that I wasn't loading cached page.

Yes, ok. I know that's probably not exactly "Politically correct" but it's how we measure web sites where I work.
