Shouted at from behind a bus shelter, 'Single File!!' as me and my mate cycling to work.... [yawn!]

Even the wife, seeing two cyclists at the weekend in our quiet estate side by side, commented that they should be in single file. I asked why, and she replied that its in the highway code. I love getting one up on the wife!  ;D

In the middle of France, I'm stopped on the right hand side of the road at a T junction where I'm trying to work out if I need to go left or straight on.

Up roars Peugeot chavagen, 4 up, euroclub blasting from stereo, tinted windows etc etc. It stops and waits to turn left. I look round to see the driver making helpful and courteous 'after you' gesture (no I'm not being sarcastic). I decline as I'm still undecided and so, with a friendly wave he and his mates zoom off.

Made me positively homesick  ;D

Last comment I had on the bike, just after fitting an exposure revo to the LHT was, 'Bl**day bright light mate!' From passenger in small Peugeot hatch back I was waiting behind at T junction.

I've had much worse running, but nothing as bad as the poor local chap that had a bottle thrown in his face by a car of youths who drove round a block to carry out the attack. Never heard if they got them.

Mike.

A couple of years ago I was climbing out of Sutton Coldfield in a slow moving jam.  I could hear female wooping, "bum", laughing, "arse", etc.
When the traffic eased, an open top containing four young(ish) ladies pulled past.  They all turned to oggle.
The look of horror on their faces was priceless. :-)
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

Since I borrowed the trike I have had - way to go, how cool is that, how much, is that hard and handful of flyers thrown at us telling us that there is a boxing/fight club on at some date in the future.

I hate to be negative about the 'lesser' provinces, but last weekend's jolly across Wales featured a LOT of oiks being less than polite. (including a few 'obvious' close overtakes - a friend was actually brushed at one point!)

When you consider how few cars we actually saw in 600km, this was very disappointing.

It's weird how different riders on the same event can have such different experiences. I noticed no rudeness and just one close-ish pass last weekend - about the same as an average 12k commute for me.  :)

It's weird ...
Well, not really. Random noise probably accounts for it </boring reply!>

It seems sad, cos the roads were never busy. Drivers had no reason to be wound up, they were just taking issue with cyclists :(    Yes, it was minor aggro for 600km, but as I say, as a %age of drivers, the wanker count was too high, IMO.

Also I reckon the faster riders get more stick, cos drivers have had to overtake the whole field already ...  :smug:

Scary for you to think that you might look like the pro cyclist that looks like a drug crazed pro cyclist though!

Cycling through a small village in Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany, yesterday, two young lads shouted to me: "Are you part of the circus?"

On last weekends 3 Coasts 600 around 2:30am passing a restaurant, myself and another rider chased down the road by a drunken young man screaming incoherently with a pint in one hand and a bottle of beer in the other whilst his friends looked on laughing  ::-)

Picture the scene:
Bradford on Avon. Half past midnight.
Revellers sauntering across the road
Tandem descends, brakes a'squealing

me: "Evening"
drunk girl: "That's better"

?? Had the previous riders (we were about 55/85 at this point) not been polite??

Frome, kebab O'Clock. Various Zummersettians in various states

Bath Street, according to Strava is 7.4%. We got at least 4 separate groups cheering us up it.
"Go ON! You can do it!"

It was almost like PBP. I was just waiting for a 'bon courage'.

On last month's FNRttC to Whitstable, heading out of London, I heard a "Go on, Rasmussen" shouted at us.
