Go on, you know you want to ...

I'm still in two minds over whether to go for kitten(s) or adult(s).
Actually, it is rocket science.

Do you think ginger cats are bullied by the other ones for being ginger?

They're usually pretty tough.  That fella looks to be anyway.

as students we shared a house with a bloke from Wakefield (who later went on to have a minor role in the cash-for-questions thing). We had jays in the garden, and his take was "That bird must be f'in hard - a pink crow, that's going to get the shit kicked out of it otherwise, isn't it ?

Lynx, really sorry to be the bearer of bad news.  Talisker had to be put down a few days ago, I think something about a tumour in his abdomen.  :(

Ginger, who you you will not be surprised to learn was a ginger cat, was the local bad boy. He came home with all sorts, a literal string of sausages as in a cartoon, a slice of beef with gravy, next door's goldfish, that sort of thing. So no gingerism does not appear to be a cat thing

This is my brother's cat, Chorlton. He's not really a big bruiser, but he does bring in small dead mammals. He's more of a slut, as you can probably see. Maybe it's because he's more of a strawberry blonde than a ginger.

Same personality too, by the look of it.

So sorry to hear that.

TimO stories about him made me laugh.

First, the bad news: This was Sandy, Anders's first cat, who had to be put to sleep earlier this year at *3 years old* due to an incurable disease. This, as you can imagine, was extremely suckful for all of us. He was a strong, aggressively friendly cat with an improbably bushy tail; he quickly became the feline Big Cheese in our house.

Now the good news: This is Sooty, who Anders met and bonded with not long before Sandy passed away. Sooty is a strong, aggressively friendly cat with a pitifully skinny tail. He pretty much lets the other cats do their own thing, except when he's stealing their food or chasing their tails.

Tortie by blackpuddinonnabike, on Flickr

That's a look I know :)

Ours went to the vet today for annual vaccinations

The vet was telling me how torties were permanently stressed and prone to skin complaints as a result. At which point Daisy rolled over to show her tummy, and started purring loudly :)

Why would torties be stressed?

Speaking of little madams, for completeness I should mention the large number of gratuitous cat pics to be found in this thread.
