Title: The Knutsford Great Race
Post by: Pip on 22 July, 2009, 09:44:35 pm
The Knutsford Great Race (http://www.theknutsfordgreatrace.com/)

Some Tour riders are going to skip the Crits and the Vuelta to ride this.
....................................................................One for Charlotte perhaps?

I think it's time Andy and I got our team entry in.  With 49" touring wheels, we'll not be as competitive as the guys on 54" racing pennies, but I betcha none of them have done Dunwich  :D

Heavens, yes.  I wonder what speed they're managing?

Fast.  Very fast.

What people don't always get about pennies is that they were never supposed to be a sedate, eccentric mode of transport.  For a few short years, back in the day, they were the fastest things on the roads.  The headbanger vehicle of choice, so to speak.

Penny racing gives me The Fear.  But inna good way  :)

Apparently Chris Hoy was keen to join Hilldodger's team, but Dave Brailsford wouldn't let him ride.
