Proteinate Me

(sorry, that was a chemist's play on words).

As I expected, PT said I need to reduce (my reliance on) carbs and introduce some more protein, at least for some of the week.

I'm interested in your suggestions, especially for lunch and dinner.

Here's what I have on my idea list so far:

Lunch (not something that takes ages to make, frittata I can do the night before)
Frittata (roast veg / beetroot & dill or goat cheese / salmon & dill / goat cheese & bacon)
Broccoli salad on the side
Tuna & white bean salad
Mackerel pate (on toast)

Dinner
Channa masala
^ but with chicken added
Spicy Lentils (usually have a bit of saucisson in this as well). (Seems to be a bit of a spicy theme here)
Duck leg Ragu (pad out with put lentils instead of pasta)

Quinoa - I've never used it but I believe it's supposed to be a higher protein alternative to carbs - any good quinoa recipes that aren't dull?

Thanks in advance :)

Last time I told my doc I wanted more protein in my diet he replied "Hah! A good steak!"  Then he remembered his bounden duty as a doc to be against such iniquity and added "once a month".

I now fancy a good entrecĂ´te for lunch.
I've dusted off all those old bottles and set them up straight

Cheese seems to be absent from your list. I take it you aren't a cheese lover. Cheese on oatcakes is good.

As we get older, we need *more* protein per kg bodyweight.

I've switched to using protein shakes, semi-regularly. Unflavoured whey with chocolate nesquik.

If you like smoked mackerel, then that goes well in any salad. Bit stinky in an office though.

Quinoa is quick to cook (simmer 10 mins, stand 10 mins) and good in a salad.
Add some tofu (marinated in tamari and oil and roasted 15 mins).
Or cook and marinate some puy lentils.
Or cheat and buy a pack of Cauldon marinated tofu bits for real speed.
Add as much toms, celery, pepper, cucumber or courgette, herbs and a bit extra tamari and oil as you want.
Best fresh, but will keep in the fridge for a couple of days.
I take a big box of this for first evening meal when youth hostelling

@mrcharly I love cheese, but I probably eat more than is healthy for me already.

My go to are legumes... particularly lentils (we're having lentil pie for tea tonight) and chickpeas.  They're so versatile and I need to reduce my red meat intake.

Eggs are another favourite.  I probably get through a dozen or so a week just myself.
