Butternut squash & chickpea curry. Much better than my previous (bland) attempt. Accompanied by (with?) a portion of dhall a la Valiant from the freezer.

Mussels with penne pasta in a spicy tomato sauce.  Perhaps a tad too spicy....... I'll be careful with the rest of that pack of chillies... :jurek:

We’ve been enjoying our random fish box from Sole of  Discretion. So far we’ve enjoyed the whiting, keta salmon and mullet. We didn’t rate the pollack. Tonight’s gurnard was lovely and it’s one of the cheaper fish. We ha£ it with Jersey Royals and asparagus.

Trout for Jan and me. Alex doesn't lie trout so we had some fishcakes for him. Dez then coveted Alex's fishcakes. So they ended up with a fishcake each and a veggie burger as well, whereas Jan and I made do with a bit of trout. It was too small for my liking.

We had Welsh cakes for afters. I cooked them this afternoon. They've all gone (well, 6 are in a  plastic box to be delivered to Alex's mother).

Roast pork (traditional breed raised by a friend of ours) with roasted new potatoes, courgette, tomato, pepper and mushrooms.
The best bit about using old breed pork is that you can get really decent crackling.

Local asparagus wrapped in bacon & grilled, Jersey Royals & homemade Aioli .           I'm now having to resist cutting thick slices of the organic, wholemeal sourdough I bought early, slathering them with aioli & nomming the lot.

Oh god yes. A friend of mine raised some old breed pigs in his paddock a few years ago (cant remember which breed), bought quarter of a pig of him when they were slaughtered. Like night and day compared to modern pig breeds.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Said friend has provided different breeds over the years: Gloucester Old Spot, Berkshire, and Oxford Sandy and Black, that I can remember.

Green Thai curry tonight, sliced lamb steak, shallot, cauliflower. The avant garde addition came from my home brew activities, I'd been getting a batch of rhubarb wine going, so had all the rhubarb post juice extraction, and threw a few chunks in. I've had rhubarb with lamb before but not with the spices as well.  I think it worked pretty well really.

Pork chops baked under a sage (of which we have a plentiful supply atm) and onion stuffing crust, new potatoes, apple sauce, peas and sweetcorn.

I made a big batch of black bean chilli the other night, and being lazy, we've had it for dinner three nights in a row. Wonder if we'll go for a fourth helping tonight...

It is good though. Very tasty.

Pheasant casserole.
Pheasant, onions, garlic, mushrooms, stock, with the juice and zest of an orange and a lemon and a hint of cinnamon.
Served with roasted new potatoes, carrots, tomatoes and courgettes.

Rather good and there is some left for tomorrow, which we will probably have with couscous and peas.

Going to be having a chilli sin carne featuring red lentils and sweetcorn as well as the obligatory kidney beans. This will be served with sour cream. Possibly with a tiny quesadilla, if I'm hungry enough.
