I recognised the bridge, but I couldn't remember the stones. Turns out there was rather more water on Dec. 27th.

On our return journey later in the day, there were a lot more people about. The bridge is only wide enough for one-way crossing, so there was a queue at one side or the other waiting to cross.

Lytham station.   We thought the wide span without an arch was unusual, even if the bridge is a bit dull.

Here's a footbridge in Maastricht, crossed during my travels back from PBP.

In Lewes, a cyclepath under a railway.  Sorry about the blue cast.  It was late afternoon, and my phone isn't very clever about white balance.

Less blue, but a very interesting bridge over the lower Ouse.  Used to be a swing bridge, but now static and part of the South Downs Way

Swinging section.  It was operated by a crank from on the bridge section, which turned a wheel against the large toothed cog you can see at the top of the pillars.  It ran on the small wheels round the top of the large cog.

Underneath, and another view of the cog mechanism.  Not a view I am very familiar with. ;D
If you look carefully, you can see the drive cog.

Exposure went a moment too soon to catch the end of the Balcombe Viaduct as the train was travelling at a fair speed, and I had to guess.  But you kinda get some of the idea:

Are those wells being bored in the flood plain in the top photo?!

I really like the last one.

They're laying in the pillars for yet-another bridge, I think.

Lakshman Jhula, in Rishikesh. Crusty crashed while swerving to avoid a monkey when we crossed that ;D

I almost got bitten by a monkey - I think it was a rhesus. I was surprised how vicious they can be, and what huge canines they have. But I wasn't on a bridge at the time.

Somewhere in this one there are snowdrops.

Not as exotic as India, but Swainby in the North York Moors.  An ATBer and a gaggle of kids were washing their muddy wheels in the beck.

Osmotherley, near Butterfly's Hill, this afternoon.  Oh, my, but it was cold.

Real snow! Please enjoy the snow while it's here - snowballs and snowmen and sledging all a must, but we'll pass on the ice yachting!

Indeed they do....one or two have wandered where they probably shouldn't have wandered so have been taken in hand.
