Audax / Re: Extended Calendar Events; A Marriage made in Heaven?

Please note that following the rule change to sub 200km rides extra ECE points may now be added in 0.5 increments. This is to allow 50km and 150km calendar events (which now attract distance points) to be extended and awarded the correct total points.

the following FAQ has not changed though;

2. What total distances can be combined as an ECE?

An ECE can only be used to convert an AUK event to one which then meets the standard randonnee distances of 200 300 400 and 600 km; as well as distances of 500 700 and distances up to 1000km.

therefore sub 200km calendar events may only be uprated to at least 200km using an ECE. I will return / refund any entries that do not meet this criterium.

One additional observation is that it says to convert an AUK event... I believe it is also allowed to ECE Overseas BRM and LRM events.

On a tangent, given that BR and BP events hold equal weight for distance points, is it possible to extend events as BP (with more generous time limits) rather than BR?

Zwift of course, and I use FulGaz for VR rides.  You can stream them but I found downloading them more reliable.

What else would I need to be able to use zwift ?

J

I used a laptop and a dongle to connect trainer to same. I don't know Tacx but would assume BT dongle would work - Chris Bainbridge has a Tacx so could advise.  Some - lkie BigRingVR - use ANT+ only, others BT only, some both, but the dongles are pennies.

And to Brians point, FulgGaz is around £80 a year, and has literllay hundrefds of rides filmed that can be ridden as wallpaper or with "real world" resistance on climbs.  They're also getting into triathlon ccircuits for those wanting more endurance. A lot of FulGaz users use and AppleTV box and a TV screen. It also runs on PC's of course.

Sweat is an issue - I have a Wahoo Headwind - spendy but can be linked to speed / HR to vary intensity.

One thing about Smart Trainers, is they tend to need £££ subscriptions to Smart Trainer Software like Zwift / Rouvy,

Most if not all apps have free trials. Try them all and see what suits you.  That would give you a few months of free use.  I posted upthread a link to 3 months free Rouvy.

Hello, sorry if this is answered elsewhere - haven't managed to find an answer through the medium of Google.

Are Extended Permanent Events a thing? I vaguely recall something like EPE being put as a motion to the AUK board. But I can't remember any more than that, and there's no info on the extensive audax.uk FAQs.

Asking because, assuming I successfully manage the 600km Gospel Pass in July, I need a Herts 200km for my Herts SR.

Yes they are. Bit of a minority interest as it's usually easier and cheaper to do the whole thing as a DIY. I did a couple during lockdown as 2 of the Essex Winter Series calendar events were cancelled but made available as perms and I wanted the badge!

Although there's currently no way to enter one as all ECEs work from the "ECE this event" button.

Other than sending me the route, perm details and £4 PayPal.

I am surprised that the petrolheads residing in Vroom have yet to express an interest ...  😉

London Borough of Waltham Forest, u bunch of useless workshy twats: why cannot your webby SCIENCE tell me when my brown bin is next due for collection?  Black bin: yes.  Green bin: yes.  Brown bin: no, other than “fortnightly”.  I do not wish to leave the aforementioned brown bin on the pavement for eight days, y'see.

One thing about Smart Trainers, is they tend to need £££ subscriptions to Smart Trainer Software like Zwift / Rouvy, and also a decent enough Smart Phone / Tablet / Laptop / Computer and a compatible Operating System to run the aforementioned Smart Trainer Software.
