On the subject of challenges for next year...does anyone use untappd ?  It is basically strava for real ale.

500 different beers in 12 months seems like a decent target

We can fit SRs, the BCM, OD's stalkathon etc round that as time allows.

I used it for a bit while I was in the US.  Didn't think to use it here... hmmm...

I've now got Untappd on my phone, good suggestion ted.  It's like grown up trainspotting (I used to enjoy trainspotting).

I popped into Condor yesterday, just because I was in the area, and now they're trying to sell me one of these ...

I was stupid enough to give them my email address (and mobile number  ::-)  ) so they've just sent me a quote - £1600 including a frame fitting.  Given my profession you'd think I'd know better than to divulge contact details.

Mind you, it's a beautiful, beautiful bike.  I think I'd call her Fanny.

Forget the profession and contact details...I thought you would know better than to 'pop' into Condor

I know, I know.

I've never really got on with the Condor folks, I've previously found them a bit snooty and off-hand.  However, yesterday they were really friendly and helpful.  I'm doomed.

Er, probably not the best looking fanny I've ever seen!

But if it has all the kit in the photo that's an amazing deal, they are very good bikes, common as muck though.

That is one handsome looking bike.

They always look very n+1 whenever you see them out and about.

I know we're all about Genesis here but (whisper it) they seem a bit of a step up.

You must resist - for a while at least.

Don't do it OD.........!

As Ted said Genesis are the contracted new bike purchase of choice for Mid Essex so any deviations from this will cause the legal department huge problems and potentially result in a loss of a bike provider

Despite drooling over Parlees and Storcks I will keep to the contract Ted and look at a Day One disc or Flyer so as not to upset the sponsors........

If any of you are in the City/Square Mile area of that London and fancy looking at some #bikeporn pop into the Gresham Street store for these guys www.bespokecycling.com

The bit that gets me is what would I do with Son of Oscar the Ribble?  I can't stand waste and the thought of him sat in the garage doing nothing would grieve me something cruel.  This is why Claud the roadified MTB and Arthur the folding Dahon got donated to a bikes for Africa project as I couldn't bear the thought of them just gathering dust.

As it is once the novelty of Fred has worn off I will be wheeling SoO out when a lighter bike is required but Fanny the Fratelo would do exactly the same job.  That said if any knows of a good home for SoO please let me know.  I'm not bothered about selling him, I would just want to be sure he was getting ridden regularly.

And if you get a new fast bike who will keep me company at the back ?

I'm going to make a conscious effort to spend more time at the back.  I've no idea why I seem to gravitate to the front more often than I think is healthy.

Most things are but we like our new home and it does mean the old thread can be kept clear for (not advanced) planning.

I think we need another thread, to keep the original thread clear of gratuitous forward planning.

What do we all think about the suggestion that there should be a dedicated mid-Essex board?

If you had a dedicated board I'd be most unlikely to look at it, whereas at the moment I often stalk you all to see what they're doing in Forrin.

Wot I put on the Essex Taking over the World topic:

Quote from: Oscar's dad on Today at 09:35:05 am

'...we all meet up regularly, our relationships with each other isn't largely virtual... yacf, in our world, is a massive force for good.'

Yes, indeed, and a very useful tool for me as an AUK organiser, which is why I'm more than happy to make my small monthly contribution to the funds.

I've no objection to a sub-board, though fwiw.
