True.
I'm thinking in terms of climbing up on the roof and dropping several cats down the flue.
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

I would give my cousin a call, but I think her call out charges from Bicester might be a bit steep

Frigging vulture frigging companies frigging phoning me about a frigging accident that wasn't my frigging fault just frigging sod off.

Why on earth am I getting an uptick in the number of these calls?

Ah. Miss Ham has had an accident in <car still registered to me> that wasn't her fault

Could it possibly be fact based rather than random?

Guess who sold them your details....

One of the pipe joints in my bathroom is leaking.
The plumber was just leaving the office when I phoned so couldn't make any arrangements.
David has taped up the leak so it's only leaking a little.
Will phone plumbers in the morning.

Well, there's a thing. If it isn't random, then it is not "our" insurers, as that is in Miss Ham's name. It may be from the other side's insurer's where I am the contact, but thinking about it might be associated with the fact that I instructed a local firm of shysters claim recovery company before the other side's insurer's stepped in, agreed liability and asked to deal direct. Again, not convinced for various reasons, I'd say 50:50.

Had something like this a few years ago.  Was shunted at a junction and everything was dealt with no fuss, no bother and then some months after it was all done and dusted got a few calls of the sort you describe.  I assume that, possibly as part of anti-fraud measures, details are shared quite widely when claims are made and the shite-hawks pick up on them that way. Needless to say I gave the callers very short shrift.

Hmm, I've had two accidents on the last 3 years. In neither case (one my fault, the other not) have they been followed by such calls*, although in both cases the "at fault" party admitted fault, although claim shandling companies were still involved.

ETA: Insurer is Direct Line.

*AFAIK - we have BT phones with built in call screening (Call Guardian) that required unknown callers to leave a voicemail to be screened before we decide to accept the call. Most random callers can't be bothered to wait.

I had a sole vehicle accident about 6 or so years ago, country lane, muddy corner, skidded off into a tree, old car, so written off.

I'm still getting calls "we hear you were involved in an accident and may have been injured, we'd like to help you pursue a claim".

I go through an "Oh yes, they keep telling me about that, but apparently I have some short term memory loss due to an accident.  Who are you again?"  They soon hang up  ;D

Whenever I get one of these calls, if I’m not in the mood to string them along for a while, I always claim that the accident resulted in my DETH. They most popular action to such a claim is for them  to terminate the call.
For every complex problem in the world, there is a simple and easily understood solution that’s wrong.

Surely that's the stuff of Network Rail?
They only run major stations. For instance, Bristol Temple Meads was run by GWR until 2014. I don't know who runs Stansted.

On my way to Lille for a long weekend. The train from Liverpool to Euston was rerouted due to track works & got in late. By the time I got through security at St Pancras the boarding gates for the 10:58 had closed.
I’m rebooked on the 12:58.

Yeah, but Network Rail do the railway bits.  I suppose it depends on whether platforms come under railway (like tracks and signalling) or stations (like lifts and ticket machines).

I see what you mean. I was thinking that "station" necessarily included all the stuff that goes to make it a station rather than a stretch of track, so including platforms, but I suppose it might not. It would be daft if the physical structure was managed by NR and a bench on it by TOC, but daft is a frequent feature of the world.

I would much rather that my bowl was still in one piece, and the curry it was holding was not all over the kitchen floor. To top it off, it looks like the smashing bowl's also chipped the laminate floor.

Better clean up and find something else for dinner :(

Saturday closest to the fifth is to be expected.  I got out for a ride earlier before the air quality goes to shit.

I'm being spared the fireworks because it's still lashing it down and it's too windy. Tomorrow night will probably feel a bit like living in a war zone.

The backroom of my local has been taken over by a joint christening and 50th anniversary.  (Not the same couple one would assume)
Consequently, all the noisy crew who are normally in there have been moved into our 'quiet room'
Blokes who can only communicate by shouting at the top of their voices.  Women who try to make themselves heard, not by increasing volume, but by making their voices increasingly shriller.

No I won't be staying.  S'pose I'll go home.  Suddenly Strictly with Mrs B seems bearable.

I pity you if Strictly becomes the best option.

I'm sitting in the spare sitting room, watching the England vs SA lowlights whilst listening to assorted bangs and whistles outside

My fault.  We have a spare sitting room and I've been planning for over two years to run a spare feed from the dish.

That's just moved several places up the to do list.

Urgh my mum sometimes inflicts Strictly on me and talks throughout even tho I can't hear her (and she can't hear me) over the sodding *noise*. I usually find some iOS tech support to do, even printers is less fucking hellish!

I can't hear the bangs, turned HA to mute/music mode.

McShroom sounds like you had a similar disaster to me. I dropped half my baked spud, beans and cheese on a carpeted floor earlier which was bloody annoying!
