Those annoying little 12V batteries beloved of wireless door-dingers are a recipe for electrolytic corrosion and associated gremlins.

MrsC chose our lawnmower - a flymo. I was against it, saying I wanted one with wheels.

It hasn't been too bac; less work and 'hovers' better than I expected.

However, the handles are flimsy. Really flimsy. Noticed that they were wobbling more than usual; yup, a bit broken. They clip on to the body with a metal spring clip, this pushes against a bit of plastic thinner than a matchstick.

Yeah, the leverage of the 1.2m long handles is taken by a bit of plastic thinner than a matchstick.

I think they are designed for perfect flat lawns that are mowed every two days.

Oh and the person who says they are easier on slopes has never had to mow an irregular lawn with steep sloping bits. They are good for giving your core a workout.

Good idea. With a simple harness they'll be able to tow the Flymo along for zero effort mowing.

Standard or bingly-bongly goats?  The latter might be an annoyance if you want a lie-in, mind.

Mr Sainsbury's driver: Bugger off! I booked my delivery between 9 & 10am and got out of bed in time to suit me, not you. If you call and I don't answer, please don't persist in calling and then actually turn up. I am normally pleased to see you earlier than scheduled, but not today, so take the hint, eh?!

Once saw a guy mow a very steep lawn with a hover mower by loweri it down by rope before pulling back up and dying the next strip. Unlikely to do that with a rotary mower I reckon. Looked OK result too.

Got a feeling I need a new gadget toy, thinking chromebook 2 in 1 or phone,  but can't spare the money. We're saving to work on the house,  possible extension coming up and they always take up more money than you think.

What m would you do to scratch that purchase itch when you can't justify the spend? I know I'm going to work myself into getting something then getting guilty and feeling bad.

Dr Beardy’s sister has, since mid April, spent two weeks visiting Manchu Picchu and the Galapagos, and a further week in Madrid. In a three weeks she’s off to Montreal for a couple of weeks, and then in July she’s off to Valencia. She’s already complaining that it’s too much.

Goats need to eat twiggy stuff. It isn't good for them, being kept on grass alone.

Besides, our garden is a maze of shrubs, small trees and (choked by grass) general plants

What's wrong with a jubilee sale? There are lots of things you can do with jubilee clips!

Order from Bike24.de has so far gone from Dresden to Lyon to Speyer. ???  DHL have a schraube loose somewhere - or maybe they think that Alsace is still part of Germany.

Strimmer has died, battery rot. Ah, I'll buy a new battery, thinks I.

Hmm, a replacement battery is more than twice the cost of the machine itself.

That's an idea I've contemplated. We met three of them on Saturday (on a hike that included an unanticipated gin still), should have borrowed them, though they were big ones (anglo-nubian apparently) and might not have fitted in the back seat of our little car. Probably too big to overhead project too, at least not without an NG-HAP.

Sony! I has a 43 of those fine imperial inches, 4K Android TV, bought in late 2016.  I've got crap hearing, and many programmes have widely varying volume levels including lots of muttering (Yes, you, BBC and Silent Witness).  Therefore I thought, Oh, I have excellent Aftershokz bluetooth headphones, the TV has bluetooth, I'll use those, so Mrs W can have normal level (she can hear an ant fart 3 miles away) and I can have direct to the bonce input.  Goes into setup menu, "pair new device", put headphones into pairing mode, put telly into pairing mode, searching for new devices.  it just sits there and finds nothing.  I Google the issue this morning, to find many Sony tellys do not have the required A2DP profile.  I spend ages finding the specs online (not in the 16 page 20mm thick 400 language manual), to discover it has the profile for pairing bluetooth 3D glasses (it is NOT a 3D TV), but not headphones... Grrr! Apparently the voice command thingy via the remote, is bluetooth, which was news to me, and that works fine, just not the obvious thing you might want to connect.

What the ****ing hell is the point of having a 3D bluetooth profile on a non 3D telly, but no audio profile?

It ranks on a par with Sony's inability to make a home cinema amplifier that could read the audio stream from an SACD played on one of their own blu-ray players.  I had to buy an Onkyo amp in the end.
