Cat flap installation
« on: 09 August, 2021, 09:00:31 am »
Due to neighbours extending their houses on all sides of us, our cat's route to the woods across the (quiet) road is blocked and we have taken to leaving a downstairs window open for him.

Obviously this is only possible when we are around and in warmer weather so we need to install another cat flap.  The only realistic site is in the steel up-and-over garage door.  We want to use a chip secured flap.

Has any one put a cat flap in their garage door of this type?  Would the steel surround affect the chip reader?  Any ideas gratefully received.

Yes there is a problem with metallic doors. I have a Sureflap and one can get a sleeve to isolate the flap. When I got it, which is many years ago, I phoned them and they are very helpful.

Thanks for that info. I have given them a call and they are sending out some kind of scanner to enable me to see if I will need the sleeve.  They are very helpful.
