Are Quest showing coverage from Eurosport? I’m watching it on ES, and I never thought I’d be missing Rob Hatch. But the Kirby/Kelly combination is dire. Carlton is permanently amused by himself, and John (yes, that’s his name) ‘Yes, well…’ Kelly is only loosely familiar with the English language. He may have been great on a bike, but lucid talking is not a strength of his.

I've been really enjoying the Eurosport 'ambient sound'; soooo much better than the Kirby drivel and inaccuracies.

From having a quick Google, I think if you are watching via the Eurosport Player app, you have the option to change the commentary language or set it to "ambient sound", if available.

I need an app that turns off commentary whenever Kirby or Kelly are on. Adam Blythe and Dan Lloyd are great, and so is Brian Smith. I have developed a remarkable ability to fall asleep whenever Carlton opens his mouth!

While I'm here, why does Orla C keep wrapping up the program with dank u well. Is she doing it for a bet or something?
She is a resident of Amsterdam.

But not Dutch, and not, as far as I know, broadcasting to a mainly Dutch audience, so it still makes no sense.

Yes, that's right. For the Vuelta the options are Ambient sound, English or German (in the UK). My German isn't quite good enough to keep up in Deutsch. Other races have different language options.

It's not a NI thing too, is it?  Orla certainly doesn't have a radio voice...

I'm NI, and don't recognise that at all.

But who does Roglic think he is?  G?

Good grief, Ineos racing at the moment is almost as poor as the quality of Kirby's commentary.

She also throws in a “Tak”, and tonight the Irish version. Just a gimmick I guess.

While we're on verbal foibles, I only started counting them over the last 16kms but it was a good 16kms for fans of Carlton Kirby's
- I guess/I guess you might say (7)
- engage(d) in/invested in (3 each)

But a very disappointing 16kms for fans of his
- likewise (1)
- (quite) franky (1)
- writ large (0).

And only one instance I noticed of phrase association:
He's left them in his wake and it's a wake-up call for them.

I wonder just how many times SK managed to say that Roglic shouldn't have attacked/taken those risks?   ;)

I've seen it suggested a few times elsewhere that Sky/Ineos have been missing the late Nicolas Portal in several ways.

At least Kelly has stopped starting every sentence with "certainly". It was so pertistantly irritating that I assume someone had a word in his ear.

Have they got some sort of time-sharing arrangement with Movistar for the use of the Attack-o-Tron 4000 AI or something?

Well clearly Eurosport heard me moaning about being dumped in the middle of the stage with no introductory preamble whatsoever, cos they've done that the last couple of days.

Couple of new complaints:
1. No ambient noise whatsoever during the colemantary. No motos, no crowds.
2. C. Kirby saying "Henau, don't dream it's over". (I like Crowded House but that was terrible)

Mrs P,
It's not the first time he's trotted that one out.
Every frigging race the guy rides in. And CK still thinks it's funny.  ::-)

He should go back to local commercial radio where he belongs.

If I once more hear a sprint run-in commentary from Kirby that consists entirely of 'we'll see, shall we', 'this is amazing', 'I'll be bound', 'a bit of elbowage', the TV is getting it....

The TV coverage and the quality* thereof has accounted for nearly two-thirds of this thread so far.

I'm not sure if that's an indictment of the coverage, the racing, or both, TBH.

What is it that CK has about roundabouts? He seems to have a real catastrofear of them.
