New NL/NO Ferry

Noticed this article on Dutchnews.

https://www.dutchnews.nl/news/2021/11/new-shipping-firm-plans-eemshaven-to-norway-ferry-service/

A ferry direct from .NL to Norway without needing to go into Germany and Denmark (and/or Sweden), would be very nice. Being able to get there over night looks lovely.

That does look interesting. A couple of years ago I had to take the long trip up to Hirtshals to get across to Kristiansand for the Kristiansand 1000. As that ride finished in Hirtshals this new route wouldn't have helped on that occasion, but for other calendar events in Norway, Eemshaven looks like a good option. 300km from Hook of Holland

There used to be a ferry from Newcastle (North Shields) to Kristiansand, like several other routes it ended because of competition from cheap air flights.  I used it for a lovely cycle touring holiday in Norway and Sweden, then the ferry from Gothenburg back to Newcastle.  (Another route that no longer runs)

So the North Shields to Ijmuiden ferry, then cycling to the eemshaven ferry would be one way of doing a similar tour again.  And maybe the Gothenburg - Immingham ferry on the way back.  Probably a bit pricey though with all those ferry fares.
Sunshine approaching from the South.

First time in 1,000 years.

No "leisure passengers" allowed through Immingham any more.

Train to London, then Eurostar to Amsterdam is probably quicker and cheaper than the ferry from Newcastle.

Then how easy is it to get from Amsterdam to Eemshaven?

Cycle to Amsterdam Zuid, train at xx12 or xx42 past the hour, direct to Groningen, change for an Arriva train to Eemshaven...

Or get a train from Amsterdam Centraal to Amersfort or Zwolle, and change there.

The advantage of the ferry over the eurostar, is it's easier to take the bike. Taking a bike on the Eurostar is something only for the stubborn. Esp to Ams.
