Nice as it is, Maldon might be a little too far east for me after what is shaping up to be a long hot day at work but I will see how things pan out.

Putting a bid in for a rural venue with a beer garden.
Queen's Head, Maldon
Not sure how these two posts are compatible but I'll go with it  ::-)

Cool, a decision has been made, we'll go with the rural idyll which is a Wetherspoons in Maldon

Of course the most direct route from Witham to Maldon is via The Mighty North Hill which fits in nicely with my training regime.

Sorry we might have ruled you out for this evening  :'(  Just so as we know for the future, as we like to be inclusive, how far east is comfortable for you?

So just to confirm because I have completely lost track of this.

Is it The Queens Head Inn in Maldon ?

Its just "The Queen's Head" no "Inn".  We are talking about the pub on the Hythe, Maldon.  My fault, I'm the cause of the confusion, sorry!

Evening

Depending on how far the Witham peloton cycles away from the pub before heading towards it will will influence our arrival time  ;D

It’s more the unusual conditions we find ourselves in tbh than the location.  I would probably have come to Maldon on a more normal summer night but as an on-call firefighter, this hot spell is making for some long hot days as I suspected it might.  Being called out at 2:30am today and then gone straight into a normal working day has limited my enthusiasm for  a 90 minute each way cycle and a post midnight return.

No probs.  Is Chelmsford good for you assuming you haven’t been up all night?

Don’t arrange venues around me as I often have a prior appointment on a Wednesday so won’t make more than 1 in 4 on average and there is no pattern to it.  If it’s a week I can make, then I am happy to aim for most venues in the summer months and would venture anywhere west (or thereabouts) of the A12 in winter.

I was going to suggest Spiritual Home again this week so we can get a full debrief from Jo88 but i realised we are there for Hopstock on Saturday.

I'm not sure I'll be at the SH home this weekend, might be, not sure yet.  So I don't have a problem with the SH this Wednesday.  Might be easier to talk to Joss on Wednesday evening as I guess he'll be quite busy at the weekend.

I’m looking at keeping the marquee for another few days after the beer festival and maybe doing a talk on the race either Wednesday or Thursday next week. So don’t feel you need to come to me this week, I’ll be busy with beer fest prep anyway.

You can’t just call time out and stroll on into the beach if you don’t like the way things are goin’.
