They reserve via Whatsapp - that's what I did the last time I reserved a table for us.

I will send them one now.

Dear me, the conspiracy theorists are out in force today  ;D

My choice on The Chequers was driven by the fact that a ready made route there popped up on RwGPS quicker than a route to ANother pub.  I'm not bothered where we go, would love to see our favourite serial killer again, I just don't want to be back too late as I've a busy day on Thursday.  Zat OK?

Have a look at the distance from OD towers in Teds note and tell me that again :)

I saw that, I think there was a bit of finger slippage causing a missing digit.  Anyhow we're going to The Alma now so  :P

It is 14km from OD Towers to the Chequers but uphill home so you will have plenty of time for beauty sleep by going to the Alma.

We have a table booked in case they are unexpectedly busy with late Xmas diners  ;)

I'm out, its too far for a cold January night!

Also, I have made a new venue map as I never know where places are and even forget some of them after I've been there! Please let me know what needs adding/removing/editing and feel free to add yourselves, using the green bike icon - you'll see me near Ongar. You might need to request edit permissions, not sure as I don't often use Google stuff.

Map is here.

Thanks and have a lovely night tomorrow.

I might be tempted to The Queens Head, Boreham ;)

Which is 8km further from you than the Leather Bottle where the Western contingent are headed tomorrow  :o

Despite the recent discussion, we’re at the Leather Bottle in Pleshey tomorrow… it’s the easterners who are going somewhere east of mid-Essex.

Might be tempted then! Will let you all know tomorrow. And I have added it to the map.

EDIT: Also added the SH which I had forgotten (shocking!)

Just don't tell the landlord at The Compasses that he's not on the list...
You can’t just call time out and stroll on into the beach if you don’t like the way things are goin’.

@Nick, I can add a few of the more central venues if you give me edit permissions. You seem to have the eastern periphery well covered.

I only recently found out that the Leather Bottle used to owned by Keith Flint.   I suspect you all already knew that, though.

We did

Before Keith Flint took over and did a refurb the LB was splendidly grotty with old style Formica topped tables.  One Wednesday, many moons ago, a few of us (me, Oaky and chief plus one or two more) were the only customers.  The guy behind the bar just didn't bother closing while we continued to buy beer.  I think that was the latest I've ever got home, I can't remember the exact time but I'm sure it was well on the way to 2am.

Happy to give anybody permission to add, you are all welcome - indeed encouraged.
Do I need your email addresses or something?

Nice work, be great to have an up-to-date one. Would really like everyone to plot their positions also, even just forum names (for privacy) would be good.

Hello all - I'm going to pull out of tonight. Both Larraine and Toby have Covid - I keep testing negative.

The rules suggest I can come out but I don't want to make anyone feel uncomfortable, so will sit out this week.

I'm afraid that I'm also going to be a no show this evening. A work deadline this week that is currently looking like a mountain.

My sympathies to tonight's absentees - we'll all be glad to see the back of covid (and work)!

I guess that's just me, Nick, felstedrider and jibers now at the LB?
