Feets by andygates, on Flickr

Kitty waited until I'd made footprints before she ventured out, hopping from print to print to avoid sinking into the snow.
It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.

In her master's steps she trod,
Where the sno lay dinted,
Heat was in the very sod,
That Andy had printed.
Kit and Andy forth thet went,
Forth they went together...

[Anecdata] I was troubled with chilblains throughout my childhood, until I decided to walk barefoot in snow at 14.
I had no further chilblains until around 2000...

Only in Italian.  They're those toe-shoe barefoot running things.  Apparently in Italian, fingers and toes are the same thing, so fivetoes got mistranslated and stuck.

That takes me back.

I went there with our fell walking club from college in the 1970s. It was snowing then - about waist deep at times. We intended to get to the top but made the mistake of stopping for lunch (we'd taken packed lunch with us). We were so frozen after a few minutes stationary that we just went straight back down to the valley.

In contrast to Wowbagger, I walked the three peaks in 10.5 hours on what was the hottest July day about 15 years ago. I remember drinking 5 litres of water and not peeing all day. After about 20 miles I was done for, but a short nap in some shade and a pack of salty cheesy biscuits worked wonders and my energy was restored for the final few miles.

Crikey thats going some ,shortest route is about 26 miles and on some fairly rough terrain .It tookme 18 years to do the 3 peaks ,

It's lucky you got to the handover point before both bikes froze solidly into the slush.
You are in a maze of twisty flat droves, all alike.

The youngest niece is visiting. Hailing from the south coast she hasn't seen much snow so it was time to introduce her to sledges and skiing.

Too snowy and icy in these parts for me today, so it was on foot in the Pentland Hills near Edinburgh.  It was actually warm out of the wind.

Almost.  It's a single image that has been tone mapped.
