"my moral standing is lying down"

NIN - The Only Time from Pretty Hate Machine

I was about to post this one, but decided to read through the previous posts to see if I had already done so and then forgotten about the thread.  Turns out I hadn't!  ;D

How did you work out the lyrics to that song?  I've been listening to that since forever and always just la la through it....  :-D

That simply has to be the Fairy Feller's Masterstroke...

If you have the original 1974 vinyl the lyrics were printed on the inner sleeve.

That and a photographic memory . . .

<Casual aside> In last week's pub quiz the final music track was 'Brighton Rock' which I answered as soon as I heard the fairground organ.

Well I've got the original vinyl (well an 80s reprint) and I do (iimssm) have a reasonably photographic memory - but then it's got to be about 30 years since I've looked at it to be fair.  I've always heard 'junketter' as 'drum guitar'  ::-)

I used to have just about every Queen track memorised for lyrics - except that one I guess  :-[

Not to derail the topic but I used to be the biggest Queen fan.

When they quit working with Roy Thomas Baker I still bought all the albums - with the notable exception of 'Hot Space' - but most of what they made after 'A Day At The Races' was dire...

I only got into them as a teenager in the 80s.  My brother bought The Works in '84 and I was hooked.  I spent many months trying to work out what that mad track they did years ago with the weird video was from my deepest childhood. It took a piss take on Radio 4s 'Radio-active' to reveal its title and from that moment I was *really* hooked. Bohemian Rhapsody was so memorable (apart the title apparently) that I remember it clearly as a 5 year old :D

I love Hot Space but it is an acquired taste for sure.

My love started to fade from the Miracle onwards personally.  Pretty obvious it was all an epitaph from that moment on although they still had their moments.

Hmm, an afternoon of office-bound marking is in the offing - *looks at iPhone and my Queen collection on it...*

I was very impressed with the last episode of Vinyl recently where they feature several songs from their eponymous album during the show

Looking back over the thread, there's quite a healthy dose of the big-nosed bard, which is gratifying.
