Saw Chickenfoot here in Paris on Monday. Wow! I've never seen Satriani before, I've seen a lot of guitarists, but nothing like him. He does everything you can on a guitar, usually in every song. He sort of stole the show, adding virtuoso on virtouso all the time, except....... you can't steal the show from Sammy Hagar. What a guy, happiest frontman I've seen (not surprising since he sold his Tequila business for $80m the other year!), speaking of which he was drinking Tequila on stage, and handing it out to the front row!
Hagar loved every minute of it, beaming smile permanently across his face, in fact they all seemed to love playing. Hagar seemed to really love Olympia too, which is possibly the best venue here in Paris.
Chad Smith and Michael Anthony thundered their way keeping the rhythm. Lots of banter between all the band and to the crowd, nearly 2 hours, all the songs from their CD plus a cover of Bad Motor Scooter (well it's not a cover is it, I suppose since it's Hagar's song). They could have played plenty more if Joe S. hadn't put 5 minute guitar solos in every song!
Top night.
