Roper knows that there is a mole in the camp, and knows it is one of four people.  Three of those people are fairly well known to him, one has recently gained his trust by rescuing his son, but Roper knows little more about him.  So when Corky and Pine fight outside the camp Roper appears to happily accept Pine's version of the story that Corky is the mole.  But maybe there is more to it than meets the eye and we shall have to wait until next weekend

I was going to say the same. I like how it subverts the gun 'n' glamour imagery of the Bond title to replace it with arms trading 'n' glamour. Which I suppose is the theme of the whole story.

And boy, Olivia Coleman is good. That sports day scene was very moving.

She's the highlight for me. David Harewood is unconvincing as the token Yank (from Brum!). I really like Hugh Laurie as the moral-free ubernasty, and Tom Hollander was pure magic. So, have we found the next Bond James Bond?

Hugh Laurie took it with less wry dignity than Bob Hoskins did, with a similar ending, in "The Long Good Friday"

Watching this might get the other half interested in Le Carre finally, I keep offering a couple of his less Cold War thrillers, more social commentary/evil corporations/industrial espionage types, but she's not hooked yet.

She's been asking when it's on.
