Love the James Bond-y title sequence and music,

… and one is watching, thinking: "No, don't go into that room now you fool. Durrrrhh! See, see what happens when you do!! I warned you."

Defo a bit of 'now I don't believe you wanted to do it like that' going on here. And I was right.

I was going to say the same. I like how it subverts the gun 'n' glamour imagery of the Bond title to replace it with arms trading 'n' glamour. Which I suppose is the theme of the whole story.

And boy, Olivia Coleman is good. That sports day scene was very moving.

She's the highlight for me. David Harewood is unconvincing as the token Yank (from Brum!). I really like Hugh Laurie as the moral-free ubernasty, and Tom Hollander was pure magic. So, have we found the next Bond James Bond?

Only one question from me.
Who did he transfer the 300 million to?

Charity?
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

I'm guessing he _could_ have sent it to anywhere that he could remember the account number and sort code... probably an orphanage :)

Having not seen episodes 1-5 it was a little difficult to follow episode 6; steps have been taken to rectify this omission.

Watching this might get the other half interested in Le Carre finally, I keep offering a couple of his less Cold War thrillers, more social commentary/evil corporations/industrial espionage types, but she's not hooked yet.

She's been asking when it's on.

Mrs A watched it avidly.  Unlike 'Perfect Spy', 'Tinker, Taylor..', '..in from the Cold'.

Only one question from me.

Reminds me I need to check my balance.  You never know.

Just started watching this. Haven't looked at the thread for fear of spoilers.

It's rather good.
It is simpler than it looks.

I caught the last two episodes this week. Not the bloodbath it might have been, and rather good for it.

And it's been announced that the next Le Carre adaptation will be The Spy who came in from the cold.
