We've now been in Aus 3 weeks. We spent about a week in Melbourne with friends and then started cycling 2 weeks ago. We crossed the state border from Victoria into NSW today and tonight we are in Bombala up in the hills inland. We haven't come a direct route, taking 910km to get here, rather than about 500km.....bonus kms means more cake. Yay! We will head back down to the NSW coast tomorrow.
We've seen some pretty massive spiders so far (but only "fluffy" huntsmen
) and a few shedded snake skins at the side of the road. We saw Koalas on Raymond Island. Plenty of roadkill kangaroos and wombats (they're stocky things aren't they!). Bombala is known for Platypi (or Platypus's?) but apparently they are probably hibernating now
The cycling here has been great - courteous drivers and mostly quiet roads so far.
