I’m guessing Steve will overtake my mileage for last year of 6,050 miles at some point in early February.  When will (or did) he overtake yours?

Well as I rode less than 1000 miles last year I would guess at 5th/6th Jan.

He passed my (recorded) mileage for last year about 3 hours into the 9th January.  He passed my highest ever (recorded) annual mileage about an hour into the 18th Jan.

Unrecorded mileage (mostly station commutes of ~1.5 miles each way)  for each of those years probably comes to a maximum of about 3 January days for Steve, so he definitely passed my most riding ever in a year sometime this morning.

Last year, about 3500 miles - I am guessing he passed that in the last day or two.

Highest ever was 9,500 or so, so he won't be passing that this month.

I did 3887 miles, so he's going to manage it either today or tomorrow.

About 46 miles into the 12th Jan, apparently (using Hoppo's spreadsheet)

I don't actually record annual mileage but I estimate probably around my birthday on 11th January.

I'm going to guess that this'll be a relatively short-lived thread...

At his current rate, he'll overtake me on the 1st or 2nd of February.  Impressive that he'll do my annual mileage in almost exactly a month!
Actually, it is rocket science.

I think that, should Steve succeed in his quest, we should have an Abraham Teethgrinder Club - the small number of cyclists whose lifetime miles exceed Steve's in 2015. My records show that, since 2006, I have covered 51000 miles. I had a 20-year break from cycling. Prior to that, I probably did about 70 miles a week for about 6 years - at the absolute maximum.

If all goes according to plan, he will therefore exceed my lifetime miles about a month before passing Tommy.

I only did 1772 miles last year, what with injury & illness, and he's waaay past that.
Getting there...

Heh!

Bikey-mikey's audax figure (333x100km) was discussed in the buildup to all this. taking that figure (AUK year, not Jan 1st year) gives  spring-ish. (the maths is in the earlier posts,  ICBA)

There'd be a loooong gap before him, then a cluster of "lesser" riders.

jo could do a visualisation of Steve overtaking YACFer marks. I'm picturing one of those animations showing Voyager heading out of the solar system - the gaps between planets are quite small at first,  then ever-increasing.
And finally he'll leave us all behind, heading into previoulsy unexplored space ...

Possibly on the same day as you Wascally Weasel - 5931.  But I did run the marathon distance or more 8 times in 2014 so reckon he won't do as much on foot as I did  :smug:

Maybe I have a new goal - make sure my lifetime mileage 80911 from when I started keeping records to 31/12/14 + whatever I do this year is bigger than what Steve gets to this year.

Day 2   ;D

For many of us, Steve will overtake our lifetime total during 2015.  Humbling, really.

what's he averaging per day over the winter - 190 miles?

He'll beat my 2014 mileage by around 28th of Feb - amazing
