Great work, all!

I wondered if he needed something from a pharmacy and had become bogged down in Wellington Boots.

when I lived there 20 years ago, Wellington had the highest density of chip shops I had ever seen, he should be well fed.

Excellent work from the support team.

Bad luck, Steve. Looking forward to seeing you back on the road soon, with the wind at your back. Rest well.

When the going gets tough . . . well, you know the rest . . .

Bonne route.

Hope he's back in the saddle soon.

And I hope we get more news, too.
Getting there...

This shorter day has thrown up an interesting email from Strava.

Steven Abraham rode 26.6 miles on 29/03/2015 Wellington, United Kingdom
2nd best time on broad path decent
2nd best time on A38 Decent

I take it these challenges are put up by illiterate Strava users?

Or is there really an indecent time on the A38 to be had?
It is simpler than it looks.

Well cycling on the A38 up in the midlands would give you a very indecent time.  You would be likely to have a rear end encounter with a series of ill mannered HGVs.

Hmm.

The not knowing where "incident" sits in the scale of "Steve had a mechanical" to "Steve came off the bike"  is a wee bit concerning.  Everything crossed it is nothing that will keep him off the Raleigh for longer than the time it takes to recharge and revitalise with a proper sleep.

Given the amount of time Steve has had off the bike today, my suspicion is that the cause is fairly serious. It can't be super-serious because the team would have said something by now.

tweet says Steve and the bike is ok, Steve was only posting on 27/3 saying he's feeling stronger than all year,

but 200 miles into yesterdays wind seems slightly insane

I vote that we all await, without undue speculation, to see what's what when Steve and the team feel that such information should be shared.

On Twitter from Steve's account just now "Extremely sad to announce that aprox 8.10am Steve was ridden into by a moped Steve tried to carry on but stopped in Wellington.Pls next post"  "is looking highly likely that he will require an operation to have a plate and screws. That is all the information available at the moment"

Terribly sad

Also that "he was collected by one of the team and taken to hospital. He has 2 boken bones in his ankle and is currently in plaster".

Sad indeed.

I noticed that the tracker had come to a halt very near Wellington Hospital and hoped that it was a coincidence.

I am heart-broken for Steve.

The main thing is he is okay and being looked after.

It's early days yet and I am sure more will become apparent over the coming days.  The year is not over yet.
Right! What's next?

Ooooh. That sounds like a daft idea.  I am in!
