But soft!  He heads that way and doesn't visit MARSH GIBBON?  Something's rotten in the back of Iceland!

I couldn't understand why Steve had come towards Gloucestershire today, it's minging it down out there.  Having checked the forecast I now see the plan, in another three hours there's some serious vent lateral due.  If he can loop near Cirencester 'till 7 he'll be home by 8.

Go careful Steve!

I think the weather is a particular variety of grim everywhere at the moment. If I were Steve I think I'd go to Florida and slipstream Kurt for a couple of months, and then see if Alicia and the camper van are free from 10th Jan to early August.

Chalk and cheese approach to the HAMR

Huge respect for both, but Steve is clearly doing the 'scenic' version of the event.

Allez Steve

You could have just left it at the "huge respect for both" and thereby reflected my view.

Steve's doing my version of the attempt.  Kurt is doing something similar.
Huge respect to anyone who gives it a serious go.

Is he going to Gibbon on his homeward wind-assisted flypast of Bicester?

 ;D

If Kurt's a good sport, he might well agree to that.
(He's probably sick of the sight of the van.)

With Alicia in the van, I rather doubt that!   ;)

It's unbelievable really. Steve's is out at 9.40pm on a ride that I wouldnt have done today at 1pm as the rain was horrible here in MK. That is after a round trip to Malmesbury. Most I did today was 10k in the gym.

He appears to be riding a stonking tailwind at the moment and has overshot Milton Keynes. Tracker shows 181miles at 9.47pm.

He'll be spending the night near Peterborough, arriving close to midnight.

I just thought the tailwind from Malmesbury was so good, that Steve just failed to stop at MK! 😜

364km. That's 225 miles or thereabouts. Brilliant stuff! Now for the headwind.. I think I would get on a train to London then cycle to Hull or somewhere. 20 mph SSWerly winds are forecast all day and for much of the week.

Needs a bit of editing, but the signal at the hotel is very poor.

Little pic of our man arriving in Peterborough last night. Looked well and a nice round of applause for him as he came through the door.
Right! What's next?

Ooooh. That sounds like a daft idea.  I am in!
