Hope today is less windy than yesterday! Don't think I have anything I can send Steve that he doesn't have himself.

Thinking of you!  Keep safe out there.

@Barakta: I don't think he has a spinnaker. Is that allowed under the rules?

What he needs is a tractor doing a steady 20mph for 10 miles into the wind to give him a bit of relief.  Thoughts with Steve as the winds seem forecast to continue until Friday.  I'd need a few days off after several hours into a strong headwind.

He's turned with the wind already. Lighter winds forecast tomorrow so perhaps travellodge on the coast tonight. Will he get a Godwin having turned so soon?

I wonder if it would be easier to get on that track that he used when riding the trike?

The U turn is a little surprising, as locally the winds are nothing like as strong as yesterday.  The weekend looks to tough, with temperatures not exceeding 4 or 5C during the day,, and overnight frosts.

I've just been out for a training ride, first SSW then same way back. 4mph faster on the way back and it's mostly uphill back. The wind really is very strong out there around the South Midlands.

When I said "locally" I meant in Bucks - I'm not that far south (maybe 15 miles) of MK.

I wonder if it would be easier to get on that track that he used when riding the trike?

It's not particularly sheltered, is it?

The trike itself might not be a bad idea in these conditions, but I don't think he still has it...

I wasn't thinking of the trike - just pictures seemed to indicate the track might be sheltered. If it isn't, then obviously it would be a bad idea.

110 miles on the clock, with a massive tail wind, and quite a bit of land left to his East ....could be a big mileage day if hes heading towards the sea.    Personally wouldn't mind him stopping short again.  its pretty atrocious again out there and debris on the road from last night is going to make life very tricky as it gets darker

I hope the storm that hit me on the commute, 10 miles East of Steve, missed him, or that he found cover.
If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is...

I can heartily recommend he doesn't try riding over the Malvern Hills. Have just come back from walking my dogs up there and I was almost literally blown over  :o

Nothing up on Strava yet but from the tracker it looked like Steve would be hitting about 220 miles by the time he got to Great Yarmouth.
