Underway at 7.40 this morning. Heading NE. I hope he doesn't have the rain we have had here in SW London.

Unfortunately it's heaving down here in Leicestershire too - so it's a wet one

Never before in the field of human endeavour has so much rain fallen on one cyclist in one year???

Or possibly taking miles x headwind speed

Never before has one man had to put up with so much wind!

But it's quite possible that Steve's August-August attempt may be completed with only one day of snow (did Steve even have snow on 21/11/15? - neither the daily thread nor Jo's update makes any mention of it) , which would be quite remarkable.

I don't know where you are, but in Saarfend I think we have had only one period of snow lying since December 2010.

We're in rural-but-not-very-remote Staffordshire.  This was the lane that backs onto Legs Towers in March 2013

6h on the road and 87 miles. That's heading in the right direction.

Looking at the BBC weather, it seems he's riding a bit of a tailwind (although it's more of a cross wind now, chiz)

Are spinnakers allowed under TEH ROOLZ?

Can Pancho lend him a cape?

I think that was the episode where Gatwick Airport was closed and prompted management to buy oodles of snowploughs which have presumably been graduately depreciating away over the last few years adding cost to each of your flights  :smug:

If you type "Saarfend" into Google Maps it finds it. Well, the Westcliff Hotel in that fair city.

That's rather good. It's can't find "Notlob", "Plarstoe" or "Rovverive" though.
