SNOW, RAIN AND COLD JUST TO AN START AUDAX....
« on: 05 December, 2020, 09:41:28 am »
This morning I set off a large proportion of the 30 entrants on the Salt and Cotswold audax. Some ECE riders had set off from the West Midlands experiencing snowy conditions en-route as the crossed the Clent Hills, followed by heavy rain just in order to get to the start but the day has now turned out fine and sunny.

The good turnout must have been the result of post pandemic fatigue which also saw two Welsh riders driving some considerable distance to start the event following the relaxation of travel restrictions last night.

In true X rated audax tradition, the event started from a wet cold Droitwich car park but surprisingly everyone was chipper. No warm HQ with food and hot drinks for them.
Their 212km route takes the from Droitwich to Shipston, through the Cotswolds and back.

It will also be the first calendar event to use the new E-Brevet card on a pilot basis, so it will be interesting to see how riders get on with this new app.
