Whatever are Alpkit doing?  Their website is being revamped yes, buts lots of old favourite bits of kits seem to be no longer available?

Alpkit rarely have things in stock.  It's their USP.

Alpkit seemed to have stopped supplying bags and mats or am I missing something?

Yes, they seem to have stopped selling mats, but they are still selling bags:

I would guess that they will make a different product line for sleeping bags at some point, they've had several different ones in the past

I believe that they also got into trouble for copying one of their competitors' sleeping mat designs.

New camping bits and pieces due from Alpkit at the end of September.

I was a bit disappointed to read the small, small print on the label of my Alpkit Skyehigh and discover it was made in China, with Chinese Goose down.  I'd actually thought their stuff was made in BRITAIN—maybe it's just designed here?

I think it was only ever 'some' of their stuff that's made in Britain.  Bikepacking luggage springs to mind.  Most of the gadgetry is certainly from the far east.

Yes, mostly UK designed, but made in China. Its how they sell stuff so cheap - by ordering a container load direct from the manufacturer. And why things are often out of stock for months.
They do now specify on the website where things are made. There are a few UK made bits, some of it made to order, eg bike luggage, or duffle bags, or bouldering mats.
