Hydraulic brake hose sizing?

Old bloke comes late to hydraulic brakes - and loves 'em

Need to extend the hoses due to handlebar and stem change.

My hoses measure ~5.35 externally. Tektro brakes.

Obviously, that's not 5mm or 5.5mm.

No.

There are multiple standards.  Not surprisingly.

Tektro hose external diameter is a bit wider than Shimano which is 5mm.  But bear in mind Shimano have 2 different internal diameters for road & mountain bikes.

If you want to add a bit of extra hose using a connector, or a new longer hose, best to stick to the same Tektro hose.
