I need to cut the blue line out to put in another pic, but I am at a loss right now how to do it....

Any ideas?

select by colour, use "add to current selection" option (press shift as you click?) to get slightly different shades of blue

If you're doing it often I think openstreetmap would probably render the GPX into an image for you. They you could add that as a layer into whatever you're going to, using gimp.
