Update on Huddersfield CTC website:

Latest news item, added: Sunday August 25th 2013 8:06pm

News from the Radford family

A positive update to all Dads friends!

Dad has opened his eyes and seems to look towards our voices on the left side of his body, he reacts when we speak to him and there is a definite awake part to his coma.

He will not follow instructions yet such as squeeze my hand but its a start, he has a long way to go.

We are hoping this is the start of it!

Thanks for the updates, I hope the family know he's in our thoughts and hearts.  Still hoping for a full recovery for John.

Excuse my enthusiasm. Latest update from Huddersfield CTC facebook page sounds good. I hope so.

Brilliant!  The 1000 mile march starts with one step....!  (I've just remembered by brother's school motto was Pas a pas on va bien loin.)

This has really cheered me up.  I realise it's only one small step and there's a long way to go, but let's celebrate John's progress.

That is very positive progress for sure.

You, and your family, remain in my thoughts, John.
Right! What's next?

Ooooh. That sounds like a daft idea.  I am in!

Brilliant news, so so pleased to hear it.  As others have said it's the start of a long walk back to where he was, but it's a start.

Whilst any positive step is great, this is a small one so far after the incident. I have everything crossed for you John, but the road ahead is unbelievably tough. I wish you every bit of good luck I can xxxx

I think anyone that can do PBP or LEL (and others for that matter) are a tough lot, and as John has done both, that more than shows me that he is a tough guy and so hopefully he will win over the hurdle he currently faces.

Keep on taking those little steps John and you will get to the other end.

Very best wishes.

I reckon that John is a real fighter and will battle all he can to get back on the bike. Great news.

Uploaded from my new Mac, which seems to have a mind of its own. The video shows John going through the bike check at PBP 2011.

There is a good photo of John (140/246) arriving at an unnamed control(?) on LEL 2013.

On further investigation it is St Ives Control.    Using the above link it is LEL 2013 Set 4, page 7, photo 140/246.
