Deeside Dawdle 200 - 2020
« on: 07 November, 2020, 09:09:39 pm »
16 riders set out from Aberdeen on a brisk Autumnal morning on this new route by a new org, a member OTP.
Including at least one other member OTP.

A cold ride out on the South Deeside road as far as Braemar; the aspect of the South Deeside Road sees little of the watery low November sun.
After a snack and warm-up in Braemar, a brief re-trace before heading up some well-known hills to make up the distance.
This was the only part of the day I removed my heavy outer jacket!

Another detour up the Queen's View climb, and from there mostly downhill back to Aberdeen.

The sun was going down as I approached Aberdeen, and it's surprising just how quickly the temperature drops when the sun vanishes.
An hour or so in the dark, and it was done other than the 13k ride home.

Lingering ankle injury had me wind things right back at about 50k, particularly hills. Could not put any real power through hurty ankle.

A good day out.

Yes, a good day to be out on the bike. Lovely autumnal colours on Deeside.

This was my first 200k since August last year so my legs are feeling it today  :-X

Thanks to iroiromono for organising and providing better weather at the second attempt  ;D
