Hello sports fans
I took a couple of attempts to upload the results... pending any last minutes appeals the dust has settled on 406 starters (including helper rides) and 333 finishers.
Of the starters, 81 (20%) were AUKs and 325 (80%) were CTC and Temporary members, with 77 and 256 completing respectively.
The DNF rate for AUks was 5% compared with 21% for others, some of whom found themselves wanting whilst others succombed to the delights of down-town Brighton or found themselves riding past their home on the approach to London after having previously ridden up to the start, all to be expected.
This is much in line with previous years. The AUK entry was a little lower than usual but it was a very busy weekend this year; besides the inaugural TINAT there were regional events in Elstead, Maidenhead and East Anglia.
Nominally the LDD would run on 2nd June next year but that clashes with the WCW600+200, so its in the calendar for Sunday 30 June. (Originally the event ran in July - it moved to early June when we failed to persuade the IOC to reschedule the opening of the 2012 Olympics...)
It's a real pleasure to be involved with this event, as everybody - riders, controllers and the local community groups providing the catering - has a good time. For the riders there is a great route and great controls, all blessed with - for the nth year in a row - great weather, and whilst it's a lot of work, the community volunteers also have fun. Their feedback is universal; "the riders are all so well behaved and appreciative", and that goes a long, long way. Overall, a great day enjoyed by all.
Time now to start focusing on
