As usual, being a qualified music teacher is of no assistance to me when answering a music quiz question.  :P

It's their birthday today.

I know this because it came up while I was researching historical facts related to 24 June for a quiz I'm doing for my sister's birthday, which is also today.

You can add Glenn Medeiros to the list too. (Bonus point if you know what he is doing now.)

Yeah, but I cheated because I looked up the answer even before you'd asked the question.

I've done a whole "on this day" round for my quiz. Here's my favourite question:

On 24 June 1374, an outbreak of what behaviour began in Aachen, Germany, before spreading across northern Europe and leading to many deaths?

No idea (before looking it up, that is) but when I was a kid we had a puppy that contracted it and had to be put down.
I've dusted off all those old bottles and set them up straight

Which is the title of a track on Sabbath's "Vol. 4".

Who composed a piece of music that was first performed
as industrial action?

Haydn?  In his Farewell Symphony, the players left one by one during the performance as a protest against pay and conditions.  It may not be pop now, but it wasn't then, either!
