Quails

I has two boxes of quail chicks (a box of young, and a box of older) and an incubator with about 4 dozen eggs in. I am babysitting them for a colleague.  One hatched on the way back home with them in the car.

I keep wanting to find an oil can and stop the damn things squeaking..

Just thought I would do a search on good old YACF as we are now seriously keeping some quails. There really isnt much that isnt covered on here.
Anyway for quail accomodation we are looking at getting an Eglu. Just thought I would ask first if there is any reason why we shouldnt

Because they're really expensive?

That's about it, really.  They're pretty cool, but I think I'd rather have something else for quail...

Granted it is expensive, but if it all goes tits up and quail keeping isnt for us we should re-coup  some of our money 
I am really looking forward to getting some, although we are away next month so it wont be untill after that.

bit late in the day but chinese painted quail make do with a living area of 6 sq foot per breeding pair and most other varieties require around 16 sq foot, the Chinese quail also have the habit of getting through 1/2 inch mesh I did have loads of info on these birds I'll see what else I can dig out,   

just one point, make sure you don't get the heat lamp too close to the birds, they will over heat and die if your unlucky
