A 2009 Châteaux Tour de Luchey Bordeaux.

The wine merchant was a tad worried that it might be corked and offered a full refund if it was. It isn't and its lovely.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Two new bottles of gin arrived today from the Wessex Distillery:

A bottle of Wyvern

and a bottle of Alfred the Great

I also ordered some of their hand sanitizer.

Tomorrows long bike ride has been cancelled due to crappy weather in Edinburgh.

Compensation arrived earlier in the shape of a couple of mixed cases of Stewart Brewing's Holyrood Pale, Edinburgh Gold and 80/.

Im currently tucking into an Edinburgh Gold which is a lovely beer.

Lately I've tired a bit of fancy super strength concoctions from the likes of Pilot and Brewdog and just want a no nonsense session beer.

There is a box of Odcombe No 1, from the brewpub in the next village waiting downstairs for 9.00 o'clock.
(and we've just finished a couple of their pizzas for tea)

Another Howling Hops mixed case, a case of Pressure Drop, and what's that, lurking behind the Tiny Rebel case, is it a Verdant I spy.

I'm not sure where to start. I think a Tropical Deluxe.

Too much red wine.  Using the 'Naked Wines' on-line shop, good selection and home delivery.  Not so good for my fitness and audax aspirations though.

Actually, I found a barrel-aged pale ale from 6° North in the fridge which is proving quite quaffable in a Belgish sort of way.

I had some Corbieres last night. It's a long time since I had any. The last bottle I bought was such a disappointment, but this one was better (£7.50 from the Co-op). Still not a patch on the house version I had in a restaurant in Carcassonne 25+ years ago. How much of the flavour (perhaps in your memory) is down to where you were and who you were with, do you think? I'm going to say up to 100%

Quite a lot of the pleasure of wine is definitely the location. On the other hand the wine producers of SW France have really upped their game in the last 20 years or so. What gets shipped over hear at reasonably cheap prices will be a lot better than it used to be. They always had some good stuff they kept at home.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Thanks for that! I couldn't resist a gin with my name on it. It's very good.
There's no vibrations, but wait.

After a two hour call about clustering algorithms, disgustingly organized to clash with beer o'clock on a Friday evening, I need something strong. Is it so wrong to start with barley wine?

Never!

Cloudwater. Rather nice. And a modest-sized bottle.

I remember the Sunday afternoon we spent at Rattle and Hum in NYC during a barley wine thing. Well, until about 3pm, after which things went a bit odd shaped. I am pretty sure we went back to the wrong hotel.

My local's reopening Friday and Saturday evenings for takeaway BEER, so a couple of pints of Backyard Brewhouse coffee stout, to wash down one of their excellent pork pies.

Quinta do crasto 2015 late bottled vintage port, a birthday present from my younger son. I think it's possibly the best I've tasted - really heavy and dark.

Brewdog's Clockwork Tangerine a citrus session IPA at 4.5%, it's nice but I wanted it to be more tangeriney and I also have a glass of Old Pulteney on the side. Best way to recover from 200km around Yorkshire.

We were drinking Clockwork Tangerine during the week and I found my burps to be very much more marmaladey than the beer.
