No sooner have we recovered from the latest Velodrome trip and I receive an invite to apply for the next available date between October and December.  IF I apply and am successful for a session it would make our 4th trip this calendar year.
Unless anyone has objection and enough upfront numbers are declared PDQ, I'm going to skip this invitation and wait for an opportunity in 2018.  Of course if anyone wants to make other clubs aware of the sessions I'm happy to forward the email to whomever it may be of interest to.

As I said last week interest seems to be dipping so lets leave it a while - treat 'em mean, keep 'em keen!

Hog Hill or the Lea Valley road circuit next time?

What does one do on such a circuit, having not been to either before? Is there instruction and such like as with the velodrome, or do you just pay for x hours riding around the circuit?

If there's no booked club/training session for when we choose to go, then you pay a fee and do your own thing. Not sure how Lea Valley works, but HH isn't floodlit so it's 09:00 to dusk, open to all except lots on at weekends. LV may be ok on a weekday evening -  a quick look at the website, seems it is a lot more structured and spendy....

Late notice I know - but Grant & I are heading to Chappel Beer fest this afternoon, arrival likely around 16:30 - 17:00.  Meeting at Terling 14:30 if any of the non Fens-loving ACME want to join us!

I saw OD leering at me from the bottom of a page, I quickly turned it over, took a deep breath and now I'm looking for something calming before I turn back to read his contribution.

He can write... but not keep a straight face for a photo obvs! Looks like a good event, more of the sort of thing I would like to do next year should my knees ever recover.

Thank you folks.  I have another article in the writing which hopefully will be published in Arrivee soon.

 I only look at the pictures.....but in this case I shall make an effort  ;D

On another note, I can now make the Rich Ellis ride which I am very happy about. To fit into my pan of scaling things back a little for this year I have again entered the 100k ride which I will ECE (the new gaff is pretty much exactly 50k from Dunmow with a very small loopy bit). Anyone else signing up for the 100 this year?

My plans for this year pretty much involve carrying on the RRTY and completing and SR but sticking to only 1 ride under Audax conditions per month. I have enjoyed the last year/s so saying I am doing this to get the enjoyment back is incorrect but I think it's probably accurate to say I just want to take it all in in a bit more, stop, relax and socialise a bit more.

The Croix de Fer is going to spend the majority of the year in some form of 'Gravel' riding set up I suspect which means the majority of my Audaxing will be on the fixed again.

I'm contemplating ECE also Nik, just to give some variation on the route and a home start/finish... it's a shame Dunmow isn't a bit further away as I have to be creative to get the 100 km in with its current location ;)

I haven't entered yet so still flexible on distance.

I'm up for the Richard Ellis as well and with an ECE, it's spot on 50km from mine. I told myself I wouldn't be chasing points or riding epics next season, but I fancy the 200km and doing a 200 ECE to the Silly Suffolk

Will someone please talk me out of it?

Anyone up for an end to end next year?

I'm doing the Suffolk Byways on the 30th Sept, not an ECE though and the Rich Ellis but I reckon that will be it for Audax in October.

I'm trying o see if I can get a week to do the Alps next year but outside of that I suspect I'll be staying close to home. 600 BRM for PBP preregistration and then next October....things can ramp up again...

edit: still hoping to hit the 10k miles for the year over all this year.

Jan has been talking about that for next year, as a 7 x 200km.

I'll be doing the 200km as well

You should all live in London, it's a perfect 50k to Dunmow... I am intending to do the RE if the knee is better (and it's slowly improving). I am with you on the plan for next year, SR and a (first) RRTY and then think about maybe actually joining a local club and scaring myself with the time trial or two. Less miles, more speed :-) The only thing I might get around to practising is stopping less... I am not going to get too worried about big rides, though if Tomsk is still going to ruin the 1000 I will probably ride it... or help.

I think a bit of variety is a good thing, I think an RRTY and an SR is perfectly mad enough for a quiet year!

Typo I suspect, but interesting concept about the 1000 being ruined ;)

You`re supposed to be talking me out of all this, but I`ll see you both there.

I was having a brief conversation with Jan on the Flatlands, he mentioned LeJog 200x7 which was what I was thinking of doing. He`s very eager, that boy!

I need to ramp up rather than down.

The Hustler is talking me into a fixed SR.  The 1000 is a possibilty (geared) but I am most focused on the possibility of an alpine jaunt.

Plenty of fun on bikes before the slog towards France in 2019.

That makes at least 4 ACME riders on the Silly Suffolk rides, Mr T will be pleased. Why not ECE the 200 and join us instead of the 100  ;D

I  think what Carlos meant above Huggy is that he will ride the 200km Silly Suffolk + a 200 KM ECE...what a legend  ;D
