The game Ultima 8 was a massive disappointment after Ultima 4 to 7 part 2.  Fans of the game were used to a large world to explore.
EA who had bought Origin prevented Ultima 9 restoring the reputation by demanding a premature release.

Another vote for Jaws.

A superb fillum now marred by a couple of floaters that just won't flush away.

If you compare a sequel to the first film, one of the worst has to be Battle Royale 2.

Carry On Columbus was an embarrassment.

Worst sequel ever? Easy. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

The kindest thing to be said of the original is that it was'nt great but a good effort. Vaguely. So we're already starting from a pretty low base. For the sequel the director took all of the worst aspects of the original production and racheted them up as high as he could. Beyond abysmal, not even watchable in an ironic sort of way. It was one of those movies where from the opening credits you think, huh huh but decide to give it a couple more minutes then hit the off button before those minutes are up because its just too painful to continue.

So bad it would make Jaws 99: revenge of the tadpoles look like Shakespeare.

Technically that's a prequel.  I am, however, coming to the conclusion that Ron Howard is no better a director than my cat.

At least if your cat had been in charge, Sky Kittehs & Basement Kittehs might have had more genuine, rather than unintended comic potential than a Dan Brown Potboiler.  ;D

Titus Alone is unreadable after Titus Groan and Gormenghast. One of those where the lead actor drops out and they're left trying to struggle home with the supporting cast---though the lead character here is the castle. They said on the radio last week that there's a fourth one, recently discovered, written entirely by Maeve Peake from Mervyn's sketch: I rather dread looking at it.
+1.

I suspect Peake didn't realise what it was about Titus Groan & Gormenghast that made them. I can't see how he could have written Titus Alone if he had. It is disjointed. The author seems to flailing around, trying to find something - anything - to fill the paper. Still sitting on my shelves, but mostly because I can't bring myself to dispose of one of a trilogy & keep the others.

I'm working on a script in which a tough but likeable unshaven New York cop, on holiday in Lancashire to rebuild his relationship with his first, then ex, now second wife, finds himself trapped in a folk club in which the audience are being subjected to a barrage of cliched jokes about stereotypical northerners, delivered by a once-funny comedian who has turned into a boring Radio 2 presenter. He has to get them all out safely before the comedian opens his guitar case and sings about how tough it is being a cowboy in Rochdale.

It's called Die, Harding

I thought that was rather good musically, although the plot isn't up to much and the kid is annoying.

All the Karate Kid sequels are abysmal.  But then, so is the original.

Can't honestly say that Malcolm X is a bad sequel as I seem to have missed Malcolm I (as well as II through IX).

Apparently The Madness Of King George was renamed from the stage play because the film's producers reckoned the 'merkins would refuse to see it as they'd missed the first two instalments of the trilogy.

Americans also have a habit of naming their sons James Bond III or whatever and may not have known it was about a king.
