The Dickens Ride was quite warm, although it started off a little brisk, and at one point Bill decided not to cycle as far along the south bank near Tower Bridge as he had intended, after a few feet of more or less completely ice covered footpath.

I wondered why everyone else was walking, and didn't realise how icy it was until I put my feet down on the ground and promptly fell over.  Marathon Winters ftw!

It was very lightly snowing when I left Croydon, and it had been settling on the ground, but by the time I got a couple of miles closer into central London, even that went.
Actually, it is rocket science.

It was strange being in London today (shopping).  No snow anywhere, yet on the train home, once you get past the suburbs, the fields are covered in thick snow and in the villages, there are mounds of snow heaped up on the verges.  Seeing it all white seems normal now.

At the moment we're in Craven Arms in Shropshire but back to London for Mr LB and then onto Paris for me. Just hope there's not too much snow anywhere else en route.

Please to not be bringing the snow with you to the bottom half of the country.

We have a cold, bright, sunny day. It looks ideal for a short ride to see how well the congested nasal cavity copes.

The temperature's ratcheting up here at the moment. 14.8°C so far. Only 12 days ago it was -6.5°C. Must take the dog for a walk and then go cycling!

Maximum today: 18.8°C. That must be some kind of February record. 25.3°C higher than it was 12 days ago.

Unfortunately it is not forecast to last until the week end. Today was glorious cycling weather and trapped at work.

Snow is now falling in Reading.

Yesterday, Mrs B & I got a little pink in the sun down in Dorset, & ate our lunch sitting outside. We came back this morning through torrential rain, & now we're home, it's bloody cold & there's wet slushy white stuff falling from the sky.

It's not settled. The ground was soaking wet & too warm.

The graph on the Reading University weather station site shows an impressive temperature drop this afternoon, from 7.5C to just above zero in two hours, before recovering to 3.5-4C.
