Fairly deliberate snow in Southwark. Not settling much yet, but it doesn't look like it's passing

Snow continues here unabated. Staff are unanimous in their desire to go home and drink hot chocolate. Management are not forthcoming.

I decided to walk to work today being as I a) wasn't sure what the roads were like and b) have done feck all exercise all weekend and I figured a 3.5 mile walk would be more exercise for my back than the same distance awheel.
Sadly I only got to do 2 miles as some well meaning colleague spotted me and completely ignored my 'carry on, don't stop for me' gesticulations

Phew! no hail here, but I just got a phone call from Mrs T to say she had battled here way up the High Street, from work, in a blizzard, to send off a parcel to our friend in the colonies. Once out of the shop she found the snow had stopped and it was back to bright sunshine!

I expect to hear lots of sirens this PM (we have the nearest ambulance station to sections of the A1 and A19, so in weather like this it is almost guaranteed to here them around rush hour)

We've had intermittent unimpressive episodes of white precipitation.
Nothing has either wet the paving or settled.
There is the occasional break in the clouds through which the world becomes brightly illuminated.
It is cold; around 1C.

I don't blame them. I am doing exactly that after a 25 mile Thames river bank jaunt through frequent omnidirectional snow flurries.

A few flakes of snow fell on me as I went to collect Little Cudzo from school. Then more fell, but not in a settling way. Not cold enough for that, but due to the easterly wind it feels terribly bitter.

I've just driven through the most spectacular blizzard I can remember - heavy snow and a very strong wind picking up teh settled snow from the fields and blowing it across the road.

The temperature went down to -2°C a few minutes ago but it's back up to -1°C at the moment.

Fair bit here and I don't believe any of the roads have seen a gritter in yonks.

The drifts on the coutry road bit of my commute were about mid thigh deep along the stone wall.

What was very very pretty was riding along the lane with the wind at my back and a car driving towards me, it's headlights were picking up the light windblown stuff flowing along the surface of the settled snow. I could see all the eddies and currents as it moved along just a tad faster than me. It was like riding along the surface of a river made of smoke.

I sailed (around the Medway) one time in a blizzard. Watching the air flow over the sails was fantastic.

Loads of motorists apparently 'stranded' in Kent and Sussex.

I think the phrase the reporter failed to find was "unprepared whingers"...

All we've had in Reading is a bitter nor-easter for days, & a few flurries of powdery snow around lunchtime yesterday. Bright and sunny now - and bloody cold in the wind.

I think we had about 18 hours' almost continuous snow. The sun's out now, but it's having little impact. 1°C, allegedly, in our garden, but that's south-facing. I almost copped it when out on the ice with the dog a few minutes ago.

Still scarcely above freezing outside, but the sun is heating our solar panel so well that I can hardly put my hand on the hot tank's inlet pipe!

A friend of mine spent 6 hours stationary on the A2 last night. It doesn't matter how prepared you are if three foot deep snow drifts block the road and stop all the traffic around you. Apparently the grit was being blown off the road as fast as they were spreading it.

His main winge was that he'd been stopped in a 3G blackspot. Seems fair enough, really.
