S-i-L messaged us to say it was snowing chez-elle (Vienne dept, just s-w of Poitiers), as she went out to pick the last rose in the garden. Just -5° at Limoges this morning. That's all in the plains, not at skiing altitude!

-5° in that Suffolk this morning, and the frost is looking more and more like snow as the freeze goes on. We’re promised actual snow tonight, so I shall look forward to that for tomorrow morning. When, of course, I have to go out - unlike almost any other morning. Bah!

Dead misty and murky in normally-sunny E17 but no SNO.  Any silly soft stuff plz to wait until after I've visited Mr Sainsbury’s House of Toothy Comestibles tomorrow, m'kay?

Boo. The Santa Run is cancelled.
No, of course I wasn't going to do it.  I don't own a santa suit.  ::-)

I just enjoy watching quite a large host of santas flooding past the house.

yr.no is promising us the full 5-SNOflake treatment from midnight to hours 06:00 tomorrow while the BBC can only give a percentage chance of precipitation.  Bloody Nogweegies, with your highly-detailed free weather forecasts, comin' over 'ere!  We don’t want your pretty diagrams!  What’s wrong with just looking out of the cave?

Assuming the precipitation measurement is in mm we’re in for 1 whole mm of snow. Possibly.

Met Office now predicting 10 hours of precipitation for us from 6pm, some rain, some snow, with the temperature no higher than 2°C. The snow is forecast to fall after midnight.

Who knows what tomorrow brings?

Snow falling on and off through the day but now not settling . . .  road outside is still covered in snow with some slushy tyre tracks but the traffic wardens have been up and down a couple of times??? WTF - presumably as the market (see up thread) was cancelled today there's nobody in town to nick (we're about 1/4 of a mile from the town centre)

Interesting question: if you can't see the yellow lines how can you be expected to know where you can't park (there are some signs on posts but they aren't very specific or precise relative to the yellow lines)?

In what way are the signs not specific? I’m assuming it’s to do with the extent of th3 restriction, as they’re generally very specific about the type and timing of them.

Here in North Herts we experience less snowfall than anywhere in mainland Britain. Not near any coast, and unlike much of East Anglia and Kent were not that influenced by near continent weather, not very high up at around 250 ft above sea level, my poor kids growing up were hard done by according to them.

Dunno, but if you can’t see a mini roundabout because it’s covered with SNO it ceases to exist, at least by the “thinking” of the bonehead who nearly T-boned me at the top of Larrington Towers Road a few years ago.

It's been blue skies all day here, but what with the residual ice and it pissing with rain last night we remained indoors.
Looks like Tuesday there might be more, but that's ages away.
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

Snowing on Sheppey. Was supposed to be going to a panto tonight. Got a little way down the road in the car. It then decided to slide the rest of the way. Turned on a flat bit and tried going back up. Not a chance, so I left it there. No gritting, no traffic and some steep bits - so no panto for the nicknacks.
There's no vibrations, but wait.

It's where the lines start and stop - it's a residential area with short bursts of yellow lines here and there, primarily where some of the roads are a bit narrow and on corners - the signs on the posts aren't all where the lines are.
